Silent Witness actor’s 1930s-set Northern drama is now on Netflix
As a devoted fan of British television, I can’t help but feel like Christmas has come early! With the addition of the delightful series “All Creatures Great and Small” to Netflix, it feels as if I’ve stumbled upon a treasure trove of Yorkshire charm. Anna Madeley’s portrayal of Audrey Hall in this heartwarming period drama is nothing short of captivating, and I can’t wait to delve deeper into the lives of these dedicated vets in the 1930s.
The popular series “All Creatures Great and Small,” featuring Anna Madeley from “Silent Witness,” is now available on Netflix for viewing.
As a lifelong animal lover and history enthusiast, I find the Channel 5 series set in the Yorkshire Dales during the 1930s particularly captivating. The narrative revolves around a trio of vets, which adds an educational aspect to the show, while the setting transports viewers back in time. Personally, I am drawn to stories that immerse me in another era and offer valuable insights into our relationship with animals. In this case, the series does just that by featuring renowned presenter Michaela Strachan as Audrey Hall, a housekeeper who plays an integral role in the lives of these veterinarians. Overall, I believe this program offers a unique blend of historical context, animal care, and engaging characters that makes it a must-watch for those interested in both history and wildlife.
Apart from Madeley, the main actors are Samuel West, Nicholas Ralph, Callum Woodhouse, Rachel Shenton, and James Anthony-Rose. The show’s fourth season was aired last year.
Starting August 14th, when the series becomes available on Netflix, viewers have a chance to revisit all the excitement ahead of the upcoming fifth and sixth seasons, which were previously announced this year.
In the same vein as “Suspect,” featuring James Nesbitt on Channel 4, has been included in Netflix’s offerings, so does “All Creatures Great and Small.” The show unfolds a detective who is a veteran, working tirelessly to solve the enigma surrounding his estranged daughter’s demise.
More recently, Netflix has also brought on board two other British shows: “The Trouble with Maggie Cole,” an ITV series featuring Julie Hesmondhalgh and Dawn French in leading roles, as well as the widely-acclaimed drama “Cleaning Up” starring Sheridan Smith.
The 2018 adaptation of the BBC period drama “The Woman in White,” featuring Jessie Buckley, Ben Hardy, and Dougray Scott, reemerged this year as it continued to garner popularity, landing in Netflix’s Top 10 list.
In 2013, Emma Madeley appeared as Annette Kelly in two installments of the long-running BBC crime series, “Silent Witness.” This show has continued its success, recently completing its 27th season. The episodes featuring Madeley were positively received by fans, and according to producer Jayne Chard, some adjustments were implemented behind the scenes.
She expressed that the innovative approach to production through virtual means would lead us down uncharted territory for the show, something fresh and thrilling. For series 28, this method is expected to significantly broaden our creative possibilities.
All Creatures Great and Small airs on Channel 5 and streams on Netflix.
