Silent Hill f features five endings and an ambitious NG+ mode

The UFO ending is back in Silent Hill f.

The first major installment in the celebrated horror series Silent Hill has been released after a gap of 13 years. Unlike previous games that were set in the notorious town of Silent Hill, this one maintains its focus on the psychological aspects of horror that are characteristic of the franchise.

Similar to its predecessors, Silent Hill 4 also offers various conclusions, specifically, a total of five endings as stated by its author, Ryukishi07. Among these, there’s even an unconventional UFO ending.

There are no good or bad endings in Silent Hill f

At a recent Tokyo press conference for Silent Hill f, creator Ryukishi07 revealed the number of endings in this game and hinted at what players can anticipate from them. According to Polygon, the renowned author of visual novels also mentioned that during their initial playthrough, gamers will only encounter one specific ending. This is mainly because the developers aim for players to immerse themselves in a unique, standalone narrative.

As a dedicated gamer diving back into Silent Hill’s enigmatic world, let me clarify something – just because one ending isn’t canon, it doesn’t mean the rest won’t be. The beauty of this game lies in its intricate narrative that unfolds differently based on our choices and actions throughout multiple playthroughs. Each new journey offers fresh insights into the same story, with unique endings serving as different chapters to an ongoing saga. It’s essential to remember that these conclusions won’t be inherently ‘good’ or ‘bad’, except perhaps the UFO one, which seems a bit… out of place.

At the same press gathering, Ryukishi07 clarified that the four canonical endings in Silent Hill won’t present as black-and-white outcomes, suggesting that Hinako’s narrative does not have a simple ‘good’ or ‘bad’ resolution.

People who haven’t played the main Silent Hill games might not know this, but each game in the series includes a UFO-themed ending. In these unusual scenarios, the main character gets abducted by aliens and whisked away onto their spaceships.

In the game Silent Hill f, the UFO at the end could appear more realistic given that Hinako’s diary includes fragments of a pretend science fiction game involving alien abductions, which she enjoyed playing with her old school friend Shu as children.

Silent Hill f’s NG+ plus mode includes different boss fights and new cinematics

In future play sessions, Silent Hill f will offer a New Game Plus (NG+) mode to enhance your experience. This appears to be even more extensive than the remake of Silent Hill 2 from last year. Notably, Konami and NeoBards have confirmed that this NG+ mode will introduce altered boss battles, new cinematic scenes, extra plot points, and increased opportunities for exploration.

In these battles, the bosses are unique, offering fresh perspectives on familiar adversaries or entirely novel experiences. Regardless, it results in increased difficulties, which is an aspect that gamers will surely look forward to.

Silent Hill f arrives on September 25, 2025, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
