Sigourney Weaver cuts a sophisticated figure in a black velvet dress as she joins co-stars Stephen Lang and Oona Chaplin for the Avatar: Fire And Ash London premiere

Sigourney Weaver led the stars at the Avatar: Fire And Ash UK premiere in London on Thursday night.

Sigourney Weaver, 76, known for her role as Grace Augustine in the Avatar films, looked stunning in a black velvet dress at the BFI IMAX Waterloo premiere, alongside Stephen Lang and Oona Chaplin.

Oona, who plays the Na’vi leader Varang in the movie, looked stunning in a sheer black lace dress. Meanwhile, Stephen, playing the villain, wore a sparkling navy blazer.

Avatar: Fire and Ash is the third film in James Cameron’s Avatar series. It comes after the original 2009 blockbuster and the 2022 sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water.

And the premiere drew in a huge crowd of television personalities, sports stars and models.

Oh my gosh, Sabrina Elba just stole the show on the red carpet! She looked absolutely incredible in a simple white dress, all by herself. It’s so sad Idris couldn’t be there with her – he’s over at the Red Sea Film Festival, which is amazing for him, of course, but I wish I could have seen them together! She just radiates elegance, seriously.

Oh my gosh, poor Katya! Even after being unexpectedly eliminated from Strictly, she still managed to look absolutely incredible. I mean, she was totally rocking a pair of leather trousers and this amazing, sharp blazer. She’s such a pro, putting on a brave face for everyone, but I can tell it must be so tough. She looked stunning, honestly!

Tasha Ghouri, 27, turned heads with her daring outfit – a revealing black dress that made a bold statement.

Black was a popular color on the red carpet, and model Roxy Horner, 34, turned heads in a sparkling gown.

Avatar: Fire and Ash is the third film in James Cameron’s Avatar series, continuing the story that began with the hugely successful 2009 original and its 2022 follow-up, Avatar: The Way of Water.

Written by James with Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, the movie picks up where the last one left off, following Jake Sully and Neytiri as they face new dangers to their family and the world around them.

The movie adds a significant new element to the story: the appearance of the Ash People, who are also called the Mangkwan Clan.

The Ash People are different from the Metkayina, who live in the ocean. They inhabit a secluded part of Pandora characterized by fire, volcanoes, and a challenging environment where survival is difficult.

Varang leads this emerging group. Initial reports describe her as a strong and strategic leader, prepared to do whatever it takes to ensure her people’s survival.

The new movie follows Jake and Neytiri’s family as they mourn the loss of their son, Neteyam. As the fighting on Pandora intensifies, they face a dangerous new Na’vi tribe called the Ash People, led by a strong and ruthless leader named Varang. The story also explores deeper questions about what’s right and wrong.

Although ‘Fire and Ash’ wraps up the main storyline introduced in the first ‘Avatar’ films, it’s not the end of the series – James Cameron has already developed ideas for ‘Avatar 4’ and ‘Avatar 5’.

Avatar: Fire and Ash will hit UK cinemas on December 19.

Avatar achieved record-breaking box office success in a unique way. Most films that earn a lot of money do so by having huge opening weekends, but Avatar’s success unfolded differently.

Avatar earned a remarkable $2.92 billion, largely because people saw it repeatedly in theaters – a pattern rarely achieved. It continues to hold the record as the highest-grossing film of all time.

Filmmaker James, 71,  said of the 2025 sequel: ‘The fire will be represented by the ‘Ash People.’

‘I want to show the Na’vi from another angle because, so far, I have only shown their good sides.

The first Avatar movies showed humans in a largely negative light and the Na’vi as overwhelmingly positive. In Avatar 3, we’re flipping that – we’ll be exploring more flawed Na’vi characters and more heroic humans.

He promised that the story will continue with both familiar characters and explorations of new settings, and hinted that the final installments will be the most exciting yet.

‘The others were an introduction, a way to set the table before serving the meal.’
