For the very first time, the champions in five distinct genres – Alternative/Rock Group, Dance Artist, Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Star, Pop Star, and R&B Performer – will be chosen solely by a public vote cast exclusively through WhatsApp.

For the very first time, Jade Thirlwall is up for an award as a solo act, following her previous triumphs with the band Little Mix where she bagged three accolades together.

The main rivalry they face is with The Last Dinner Party, who are nominated in the same categories such as Best New Artist, Group Of The Year, Alternative Rock Act, and Album Of The Year.

This year’s BRIT Awards are showcasing the success of British rappers like Central Cee, Stormzy, and Dave on a global scale.

Central Cee is being recognized with nominations in multiple categories such as Song of the Year, Artist of the Year, and Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act. Meanwhile, Stormzy is up for the Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act category.

One more strong candidate is Myles Smith, who currently holds four nominations, including the Rising Star award he recently won last month.

The song “Stargazing,” which boasts more than 600 million plays, has been nominated for Song of the Year. Remarkably, this is his first time attending the BRIT Awards, set to take place in March.

He expressed: “I watched it on TV last year, and being there this year is incredibly exciting for me. Since it falls right in the midst of my tour, my mind is scattered, but I’ll find a way to make it work.
