Sia Calls It Quits: Divorce from Husband #2 After Just 2 Years!

Sia has reportedly filed for divorce from her second husband Dan Bernad.

49-year-old artist Sia Furler, formerly known as Sia Kate Isobelle Furler, decided to separate from her spouse following 26 months of marriage, as court proceedings took place on Wednesday.

TMZ noted that her paperwork stated that she had separated from Dan only the day before. 

In December 2021, they began their romantic journey together, and they tied the knot at a private event held in the charming town of Portofino, Italy, in 2023.

Back in 2020, I openly expressed to GQ that I wished to remain single for the foreseeable future, a decision rooted in the aftermath of my 2017 divorce from golf documentary maker, Erik Anders Lang. Our marriage lasted just two short years.

The Australian performer’s hit songs include Chandelier, Titanium and Cheap Thrills. 

Besides creating art, this artist is responsible for penning hits like “Diamonds” (originally sung by Rihanna), “Wild Ones” (a collaboration with Flo Rida), and “Pretty Hurts” (which Beyoncé made popular).

In August 2014, Erik Anders Lang tied the knot with Sia at her residence in Palm Springs, California.

The couple divorced in 2016.

At the start of her career Sia suffered enormous heartbreak which shaped her songs.

At the tail end of the nineties, Sia relocated to London to be with her partner, Dan Pontifex. A few weeks into their time there, she learned of his tragic passing, which occurred following a car accident in London while he was overseas in Thailand.

After going back to Australia, she got a call from an old roommate of Pontifex, inviting her for an extended stay in London instead.

The 2001 album, Healing Is Difficult, by Pontifex, explores the theme of his passing through lyrics: ‘I was deeply affected when Dan passed away. I found it hard to experience any emotions.’

2007 saw her express during an interview with The Sunday Times: “We were all deeply affected, so I turned to substance abuse and Special Brew. Regrettably, this spree of excessive drinking persisted for six long years in my case.

In 2008, she dated JD Samson and they split in 2011.

In response to a question about her sexuality in 2009, she stated, “I’ve had relationships with both boys and girls, as well as those who identify outside these categories. For me, it’s not about someone’s gender; it’s all about the person themselves… I would describe myself as quite open-minded or flexible.

Sia identified as queer on Twitter in 2013.

The star has admitted to suffering from depression, extreme lethargy and panic attacks.

In 2010, she had plans to commit suicide. She then joined Alcoholics Anonymous.

2019 saw Sia publicly disclosing her diagnosis with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Additionally, she has shared that she has Graves’ Disease.

The artist herself mentioned that she received a diagnosis for Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, stemming from traumatic experiences during her childhood, such as being sexually assaulted when she was only nine years old.
