Shudder shares first trailer for The Creep Tapes, streaming this November

As a seasoned horror enthusiast with over two decades of chills under my belt, I can confidently say that the upcoming Shudder Original series, The Creep Tapes, has me absolutely gripped with anticipation. Having been a die-hard fan since the first Creep film graced our screens back in 2014, I’ve eagerly followed the twisted journey of Mark Duplass’s enigmatic serial killer, Peachfuzz.

In a little over a month, we’re getting closer to the release of “Creep,” and Shudder has unveiled the official trailer and poster for their upcoming series titled “The Creep Tapes.” This new series is the latest addition to the film franchise created by writers and executive producers Mark Duplass and Patrick Brice.

Apart from acting as performers, I had the pleasure of working alongside Brice and Duplass in the original “Creep” movie released in 2014. We collaborated again for the 2017 sequel, with Brice taking on the director’s role for both films. Moreover, he was also at the helm for all six episodes of “The Creep Tapes”.

Check out the trailer below.

In the upcoming season, Duplass reappears as the enigmatic serial killer, infamously known as “Peachfuzz,” when he adorns an unsettling werewolf-esque mask. The show guarantees a deeper dive into his mind, with six fresh tapes unveiling additional victims of his. Previous installments, Creep and Creep 2, introduced his devious modus operandi: he recruits random filmmakers from Craigslist under false pretenses to document a day in his life, later exposing his darker intentions.

In the trailer, it’s clear that Peachfuzz remains as threatening as before. However, there seems to be a possibility of a change this time, as a scene suggests he may encounter someone who could outmaneuver him, since one shot depicts him bound in a bathtub.

From this coming Friday, November 15th, The Creep Tapes’ first two episodes will be premiered simultaneously on Shudder and AMC+. Subsequent episodes will be rolled out weekly on both streaming services.

To date, details about the plot of The Creep Tapes have been scant, which isn’t unusual given that the films themselves were secretive to maintain suspense for viewers. The Shudder Original series will delve deeper into the psyche of a reclusive serial killer, and the additional tapes we’ll encounter in this found-footage horror show will reveal more about his other victims, as well as the dire consequences they face when they discover that the videography job is actually a trap.

The Duplass Brothers’ Production Company, in collaboration with Shudder, are responsible for the production. The Duplass brothers and Brice share credit as co-writers and executive producers. Furthermore, Jay Duplass, Chris Donlon, Mel Eslyn, and Shuli Harel are also listed as Executive Producers.

The Creep Tapes premieres on Shudder and AMC+ on Friday, November 15.
