Pop star Shpat Kasapi has died at the age of 40.
The Albanian singer died unexpectedly on Wednesday from a heart attack while in Monza, Italy.
According to the Daily Star, he and his wife, Selvije Jao, were in Italy to get medical opinions for their son, Roel.
Selvije shared a deeply sad message about her husband’s death, explaining that he passed away while she held him.
She shared a photo of her husband with their son on Instagram Stories, writing, ‘You left us here alone, without you.’
She continued, her voice filled with grief, remembering, “You died right here, held in my arms. We were so close, and we always protected each other’s privacy.” She then cried out, “You promised to love me until the very end. Why did you leave me this way? Why did you break my heart, my love?”

Singer Bebe Rexha, 36, who has Albanian roots, shared a tribute after learning the news.
Rexha posted a clip of Kasapi singing with an emoji of a white dove and an Albanian flag.
Kasapi and Selvije got married in 2021 and made their home in Tirana, Albania. They first connected while filming one of Kasapi’s music videos.
The pair went on to have son Roel.
Everyone was shocked by the sudden death of musician Kasapi yesterday, as he was known for his popular songs and had no known health problems.
Shpat was a beloved figure in the Albanian and Kosovan music scene.
He became well-known in the early 2000s with popular songs like “I Miss Her,” “Kosovar Dance,” “Love Without Limits,” and “Her Aroma.”
His latest single N’dhahem Sot has nearly a million YouTube views.
Kasapi also had nearly 340,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.
Kasapi competed to represent Albania in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest.
He was ultimately defeated by Kejsi Tola, who performed Carry Me in Your Dreams.
