Japanese artist Shohei Ochiai has revealed an exclusive partnership with Tamagotchi, launching a remake of the original model embellished with his artwork that pays homage to the game’s roots. This limited edition device and its packaging feature Ochiai’s hand-drawn designs, offering a sentimental wink back to the 1996 release of Tamagotchi.
At the peak of Gen Z’s fascination for charm accessories, this gadget includes a ball chain that can be connected to keyrings, bags, or clothing items. This partnership introduces a Tamagotchi Original encased in a clear casing, reviving the classic Y2K style with an extra Tamagotchi UFO design in blue. Furthermore, blue buttons and borders add consistency to the overall design.

On the contrary, classic figures such as Professor Banzo and Mikachu are depicted above an authentic Shohei Ochiai and serial number. This collaboration skillfully combines elements of art, gaming, and fashion accessories, merging Ochiai’s artistic perspective with the nostalgic charm of Tamagotchi.
In his recent collaborations, Ochiai has teamed up with New Era to create unique caps. He reimagined the New Era logo by using a three-dimensional, layered embroidery on five cap designs and two t-shirt styles, mirroring the creative freedom and poetic flaws of childhood. Similarly, his recent collaboration with Tamagotchi showcases a similar artistic style.
Mark your calendars for August 2025! The exciting collaboration between Shohei Ochiai and Tamagotchi is up for pre-order right now on the Beams online store.
