Shocking Changes Revealed for Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy by Leo Woodall!
Leo Woodall shared that the character he played in Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy would have had a significantly altered portrayal.
In the fourth film of the romantic comedy series, the character Leo, hailing from London, takes on the role of Roxster, a park worker at Hampstead Heath. One day, he comes to the rescue of a bumbling and smitten television employee, portrayed by Renee Zellweger, who had become stuck in a tree.
The movie focuses on exploring the complexities of age difference relationships, particularly following the story of Bridget, a 51-year-old woman, as she navigates her romantic entanglement with Roxster, who is 29 years old. Additionally, it delves into a love triangle involving Mr. Wallaker, a character played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, who teaches at Bridget’s son’s school.
In a distinct departure from the on-screen portrayal, Leo, aged 28, took a unique approach to the role, ultimately unveiling a character originally intended to have a Scottish background.
On “The Graham Norton Show,” airing this Friday evening, Leo shared an amusing story about his audition: “Initially, they wanted me to portray a Scottish character. I was all set to deliver it in a Scottish accent, but once I did, they suddenly had second thoughts!
In the forthcoming movie, it is four years since Bridget’s spouse, Mark Darcy (portrayed by Colin Firth), has passed away. This story follows Bridget as she navigates her newfound singleness.
Additionally, it features the comeback of Hugh Grant reprising his character, Daniel Cleaver, the ex-lover who was previously written off in the third movie, Bridget Jones’s Baby.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, let me share an intriguing tidbit: In the world of Hollywood, I’ve crossed paths with the extraordinary talent Leo, who’s captivated audiences on Netflix’s One Day and HBO’s The White Lotus. During our filming days, we didn’t have the opportunity to truly connect; however, our encounters have since extended beyond the set, gracing red carpets and press events together.
He mentioned that he never had the opportunity to collaborate with Hugh and found it awkward to introduce himself. People frequently inquire about Hugh’s personality, to which he typically responds, “I can’t tell you, as I haven’t had the chance to meet him yet.
Renee revealed said she was ‘hopeful’ for Hugh’s return ‘but also surprised (because) he was dead’.
‘But if you are going to bring someone back to life, let it be Daniel Cleaver,’ she added.
I’m really pleased that he was discovered still alive at the conclusion of the third movie, which leaves room for him to return if he chooses. He truly is exceptional.
Additionally, she discussed the unique ways in which Bridget coped with the grief of Mark’s passing, handling those challenging times on her own terms.
She noted that by this stage of life, everyone has experienced some form of sorrow, and it wouldn’t feel genuine if things were devoid of a bit of hardship.
The upcoming movie is adapted from British writer Helen Fielding’s 2013 novel “Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy.” In this story, the protagonist Bridget finds herself a widow in her fifties and caring for two kids.
In the trailer, Bridget’s friends urge her to face her fears and resume romantic relationships, as she has abstained from sexual activity for four years since Mark’s passing.
Additionally, she resigns from her TV job to handle school drop-offs, humorously finding herself out of step with the fashionable moms (Yummy Mummies).
While visiting the local park, Bridget stumbles upon her kids being trapped up in a tree. To her relief, she’s assisted by two charming gentlemen – Leo and Chiwetel, who are renowned actors from The White Lotus and Oscar nominees respectively.
Soon enough, she discovers herself caught up in a three-sided competition for her affection – toyboy Roxster, Mr. Wallaker the PE teacher, and infamous Daniel Cleaver all vying for her attention.
Enthusiasts will find delight too, for there’s an intriguing scene where Roxster leaps into a pool to save a tiny pup, reminiscent of the famous “Mr. Darcy at the pond” moment from Pride and Prejudice.
Unrolling its length, the trailer reveals Bridget’s blossoming relationship with Roxster, leading to an intense romantic encounter between them following their date.
Nevertheless, as Bridget’s meetings with Mr. Wallaker grew more flirtatious, she found herself bewildered. Eventually, she accidentally entered a barn to discover him partially undressed.
Last year, it was officially announced that the film is set for release, with the script written by authors such as Helen, Abi Morgan, and Dan Mazer, and directed by Michael Morris.
Bridget Jones, Mad About The Boy will hit cinema screens on February 14.
The Graham Norton Show airs Friday at 10.40pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
