On Monday, Nicole Kidman made headlines as she unveiled a bold, modern hairstyle at the 2025 Met Gala held in New York City.

At the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the renowned Australian actress, aged 57, made an appearance with a stylish pixie haircut created by Adir Abergel that left her fans impressed.

However, when detailed images of the star’s revamped appearance surfaced, fans started pondering whether the fresh hairstyle might actually be a wig.

Nicole’s habit of wearing wigs in Hollywood movies has earned her a cult following over the years.

In the initial stages of her acting career, the famous actress from Hollywood seldom displayed her true hair texture in movies, instead opting for wigs as a regular choice for all her on-screen characters.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but share my excitement over the Aussie stylist’s latest take on her jaw-dropping red carpet transformation! She thinks her latest short do could be a fusion of her natural tresses and extensions, which has me absolutely buzzing!

Andrew Newport, a hairstylist from Bixie Colour, suggested that what we see might actually be Nicole’s natural hair, with the back length cleverly concealed using strategically positioned and attached hair extensions or pieces.

The hairstyle, giving an impression of being enchanted with hair magic, might instead be crafted by pulling back the hair from the crown tightly and braiding it closely to the scalp. At the front, Nicole’s natural hair forms a fringe, while hair extensions are artfully concealed and added at the nape to complement this style.

‘This would take a bit of work and considerable time but is 100% achievable.’

Discussion about Nicole’s fresh hairdo began almost immediately following her appearance on the red carpet, as fans rushed to her hairstylist Adir’s Instagram account.

Adir posted multiple pictures and clips showing Nicole strutting on the red carpet with her new short hairstyle, showcasing his satisfaction with his creation.

Meanwhile, as admirers lauded his skills, some suspected that the wig was actually Nicoles’ real hair, not hers.

One supporter boldly put the question directly to Adir, yet the hairdresser skillfully dodged the query and opted against either confirming or denying it.

In my 32 years as a hairstylist, I must admit that her hair surpassed the elegance of her dress! Simply breathtaking… It’s hard to believe, but is it a wig or did she get a new haircut? That’s what someone asked.

‘Thank you baby. I am truly touched,’ Adir responded without answering the pointed question. 

Italian hairstylist Marco Bresciani Testa commented, “You did a fantastic job with that wig! Nicole Kidman really brings it to life!

Other admirers also shared their thoughts on Nicole’s hairstyle, with one commenting: “She consistently rocks the best wigs! I adore the style!

‘I hope this is not a wig she looks amazing,’ said another. 

‘She looks stunning! If the hair isn’t actually cut short it should be,’ someone else commented.

One individual mused, “Her hair looks amazingly unique, but I think it must be a wig, don’t you? She exuded timeless elegance and beauty that spanned the years.

One person commented, “What a lovely wig,” while another questioned, “Is that a wig or has she actually chopped off all her real hair?

‘Please tell me it’s not a wig because she looks stunning with this cut,’ yet another praised.

No matter if Nicole’s latest hairstyle is genuine or a wig, there’s one point her followers unanimously approve of – it looks fantastic!

Many devoted fans expressed their opinions about it, with numerous individuals commending the celebrity for abandoning her frequent use of wigs and revealing her natural hair instead.

One person expressed, ‘Wow! Nicole Kidman on the MET steps… she exudes intense beauty. I’m really liking her short hairstyle!’

Another said:  ‘Wow! Nicole Kidman looked stunning. Love love love her new hair style.’

Another person commented, ‘The world is healing because of Nicole Kidman’s short hair,’ while another stated, ‘I can’t get enough of her new hairstyle.’

The first person said something like, ‘Nicole Kidman’s short hair makes the world a better place,’ and the second one simply expressed, ‘I love Nicole Kidman’s latest hairdo.’

One individual stated, ‘The world is improving thanks to Nicole Kidman’s short hairstyle,’ while another person acknowledged, ‘Nicole Kidman’s new haircut has caught my attention.’

In my excitement, I couldn’t help but exclaim, “Nicole Kidman without a wig!” It seemed another fan agreed, expressing it as, “Nicole Kidman, no wig?

Nicole was stunning in a bespoke black Balenciaga dress, perfectly aligning with the “Superb: Black Tailoring Elegance” theme.

She gave her most seductive smile while showing off her latest style, neatly arranging her golden hair with a hidden brunette section at the back.

The dress she wore had no back and was accentuated at her waist and hips using ornamental sashes, while she paired the ensemble with black gloves, much like the famous actress known as Baby Girl.

The actress completed her elegant appearance using intricately designed silver and diamond accessories from Cindy Chao, and she accentuated it all with a vibrant red lipstick.

On rare occasions, Nicole shows off her natural curls on screen, and one such occasion was in her debut film, “BMX Bandits,” released in 1983.

Interestingly, she is known to get a little touchy when asked her use of wigs.

Last year, I gracefully ended a conversation on The Kyle and Jackie O Show regarding my wig collection, and more recently, during the Toronto Film Festival in September 2018, I politely declined to discuss the same topic with a journalist. As a lifestyle expert, I believe it’s important to maintain a level of privacy when it comes to personal choices, such as my hairstyle preferences.

A clip emerged showing an uncomfortable incident where the celebrity rolled her eyes and labeled the query as ‘poor’.

The award-winning actress seemed taken aback when the podcast host, who identifies as male, requested her to list her favorite movies based on the wigs she wore in each one.

At the point when the press conference erupted in laughter, Nicole reacted with astonishment: “You’re joking, right? It’s quite a peculiar film, isn’t it?

In my own words, I’d say: “RuPaul commented that no one can pull off wigs quite like Nicole, igniting a playful discussion about the evolving nature of her hairstyles.

‘The irony is that we rarely ever see Nicole Kidman’s hair,’ RuPaul said.

Michelle swiftly responded: ‘I think she’s bald!’

‘She’s not bald!’ replied RuPaul, correcting her. 

‘She’s just got curly hair that ends up being very brittle.’
