Shock! Foo Fighters Fire Band Member 8 Months After Dave Grohl’s Secret Affair
In an unexpected move, a crucial member of the Foo Fighters has been let go from the band, following this action eight months after the revelation of Dave Grohl’s relationship scandal caused turmoil within the group.
In a recent Instagram post, drummer Josh Freese revealed that he was unexpectedly dismissed from the band, which sparked discussions suggesting that he might have been chosen as a permanent replacement for the late Taylor Hawkins.
Monday evening, I received a call from the Foo Fighters informing me that they are choosing to change their drummer’s role within the band. No explanation was provided.
Despite any differences, I have truly relished the last two years spent with them, whether it was on or off the stage. I stand behind their decision about what’s best for the band.
Over the past 40 years, I’ve consistently been part of bands as a professional drummer without ever being dismissed. However, it’s not that I’m angry – rather, I find myself feeling a bit stunned and disheartened.
However, since many of you are aware that I’ve typically been a freelancer, moving among various bands, I want to assure you that I’m doing well. Keep an eye out for my upcoming list titled ‘Top 10 Plausible Explanations Why Josh Was Kicked Out of the Foo Fighters’.

In 2023, Freese, aged 52, came on board with the group following the tragic overdose-related passing of their longtime drummer, Taylor Hawkins, who was 50 years old in 2022.
For over four decades, Freese has been a professional drummer, performing with bands including Nine Inch Nails, Devo, and Guns N’ Roses on various tours.
In March 2022, during a tour in Bogota, Colombia, Hawkins sadly passed at the age of 50.
The performer joined the band in 1997, three years after it was initially founded by Dave Grohl.
After that, the deceased musician always stayed with the band and went on to win a total of fifteen Grammy Awards.
Yet, during his stay at Four Seasons Casa Medina hotel, Hawkins developed chest pains which led to his untimely death that occurred on the night of March 22.
Or:
While at Four Seasons Casa Medina hotel, Hawkins suffered from chest pains and sadly succumbed to those injuries on the evening of March 22.
Both versions convey the original meaning while using more accessible language.
At the time of his demise, an examination later disclosed that there were ten distinct substances found within the drummer’s body.
It was also announced that the performer’s heart was twice the size of a normal one.

Last September, I had the pleasure of attending two extraordinary tribute concerts, one held at the iconic Wembley Stadium in London and another at the Kia Forum in Inglewood. These events were a celebration of some of the biggest stars in music history.
Both Freese and Hawkins’ son, Oliver Shane, appeared during the first performance.
