As I delve into Amy Dowden’s poignant journey, I find myself deeply moved by her strength and resilience. Her story is one of courage, love, and determination that transcends the dance floor. The images of her journey – from the joyous moments of her wedding to the challenging battles against cancer – paint a vivid picture of a woman who refuses to be defined by adversity.

On Sunday, Shirley Ballas appeared cheerful as she went to a hangar celebration at Heathrow Airport, supporting the charitable journey organized by Dreamflight.

64-year-old Judge from Strictly Come Dancing was an epitome of elegance, donning a cream coat that coordinated with a sweater beneath, along with a collar shirt.

Previously, the dance enthusiast donned an extravagant makeup look and a grand hairstyle, while conversing with numerous kids, all excited for their British Airways plane, specially arranged to fly to Florida.

Dreamflight is a U.K. charitable organization that arranges an extraordinary vacation for children battling severe illnesses or disabilities, taking them to Orlando.

On the eve of the results show on Sunday night, Shirley was captured in photos alongside well-known figures such as Darth Vader and Chewbacca, among other famous characters. This upcoming event marks the elimination of the fifth celebrity contestant from the competition.

At the charity event, Amy Dowden, a fellow contestant on Strictly, was taken to the hospital on Saturday night due to fainting in the backstage area following the live performance.

34-year-old Wesh ballroom dancer, having successfully managed her battle with breast cancer and now in remission, made a comeback to the show after an absence of two years in September.

However, at approximately 9:00 PM on Saturday night, there was a call for paramedics to be dispatched to the production site in Hertfordshire, due to news of a medical crisis.

A representative from the East of England Ambulance Service reported that they received a call around 9:00 PM on Saturday for an emergency medical situation at Elstree Studios, located in Borehamwood.

‘A paramedic team arrived at the location. They took a grown woman to Barnet Hospital for additional treatment.’

A short while ago, the dancer executed the Foxtrot to the popular song “Dancing in the Moonlight” by Toploader alongside her famous partner, JB Gill from JLS.

But fans noted the dancer was partially seated during her latest performance.

The duo reached the fifth spot in the Strictly rankings following the judges’ combined evaluation, which totaled 32 points from Shirley, Craig Revel-Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke.

According to Amy’s representative, it was decided to call an ambulance as a preventative measure since Amy wasn’t feeling well.

‘She is feeling much better and would like to thank the Strictly family for their love and concern.

‘We request Amy’s privacy in matters of health is kindly respected.’

In 2023, Amy’s life took a dramatic turn when she received a cancer diagnosis just a day after returning from her honeymoon with her husband, professional dancer Ben Jones. This unexpected news shattered her world.

Initially, she had hoped that surgery might provide a cure, but two months into June, doctors discovered a different kind of cancer instead.

In what became the toughest year of her life, the professional dancer underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy, fertility treatment and also almost died of sepsis.

Amy, who also battles Crohn’s disease, confirmed she was cancer-free in February.

Despite needing another five years of treatment without a complete clean bill of health, she expressed gratitude towards her loved ones for their support during what she described as her most challenging year.

Posting an overjoyed photo on Instagram, she captioned it: “No trace of illness found! A long-awaited phrase! My greatest achievement so far!

For the next five years, my doctor has advised that I’ll need to continue treatment due to my hormone-fueled cancer. However, the experience has been invaluable, as I’ve come across words I never imagined hearing before – words that make it all worthwhile.

I am incredibly thankful for the compassionate care I’ve been blessed with, not just in the past but also now. To my beloved husband, my family, friends, and even to you all, I express my deepest gratitude for your unwavering support that has meant the world to me. Thank you!

She went on to say: “For the upcoming five years, I’ll require monthly injections and routine check-ups. The chemotherapy and last year have undeniably left a significant impact on my body, both physically and mentally. Consequently, I plan to spend the next several months focusing on healing and recuperation.

‘I have so much to strive and live for, and so grateful for another chance at life! Something I know not all get. I certainly see life differently and my life has changed forever!

I’m deeply concerned about the impact cancer has on many people, so I’ll keep doing my best to spread knowledge about it and encourage as many individuals as possible to stay informed.

After navigating through the most challenging year I could never have foreseen, I’m eagerly looking forward and setting my sights on what lies ahead. Dancefloor, here I come again! With love from Wales, always Amy x.

Previously, Amy had shared her journey fighting cancer through a BBC documentary titled “Strictly Amy: My Cancer Battle,” which offered an unobtrusive view of her ordeal.

Over a span of 15 months, this series chronicled Amy’s journey through surgeries, chemotherapy, fertility treatments, and an unpredictable future.

Last summer, as a newlywed preparing for my honeymoon, the documentary resonated deeply with me. A year prior, I discovered a lump in my breast, which shifted the course of my life dramatically.

At my current stage in life, I didn’t expect a cancer diagnosis, yet I have relatives and acquaintances who have triumphed over cancer. However, I was completely unaware of how profoundly it would affect me personally.

On this voyage, I’ve discovered a great deal about myself and the impact of a cancer diagnosis. I pray that this movie brings hope and resilience to others, inspiring them to perform regular self-checks, regardless of their age.

During the performance, it was disclosed that Amy had been unexpectedly returned to the hospital due to a second suspicion of cancer, as physicians detected irregularities in her breast following an examination.

In my own words, I shared with my audience: “It was a heart-stopping moment, a time filled with concern. I’ll always remember that phone call saying they were sorry, but they had spotted something that didn’t sit right with them.

Initially, I couldn’t believe it; I felt as though I couldn’t endure another round of this, I simply couldn’t afford to miss Strictly again. The entire family was shattered by the news.

After baldly revealing herself on Strictly and provoking inspiration with her bravery, Amy acknowledged that she’d faced cyberbullying in the form of online trolls.

During her time, she had the unwavering backing of her parents, her spouse Ben, and her fellow dancers from Strictly; however, it was confessed that some friends who were present at her wedding had drifted away following her diagnosis.

She admitted that when she needed to inform Strictly, her main concern was whether she could retain her job, as that was the most terrifying prospect for her.

To achieve excellence in dancing, your physical fitness should match that of an athlete. I was anxious concerning the impact of treatment on my physique.

She expressed that the treatment left her drained, adding: “I was devastated. It absolutely drained me of energy for Strictly. I was sad because I longed to be on the dance floor.

In July, Amy honored her husband with a heartfelt tribute during the commemoration of their two years of marriage.

Accompanying beautiful photos from our wedding day, she penned: ‘Celebrating our 2nd anniversary! It’s safe to say that our married life has had its challenges, but I am eternally thankful for your presence!’

“Thanks for making it through the last year with me! I know things got really rough at times, but you managed to stay optimistic, kept the house germ-free, and did your best to boost my spirits too.

“I adore you even more than before! Here’s to a less bumpy road in the coming year! However, one thing I am certain of is that we’ve got each other through it all!

‘We’ve got more exciting escapades ahead, spontaneous last-minute ideas, home improvement projects, delightful moments at the dance studio, and simply living our zesty lives! I love you consistently.’
