As I delve deeper into this captivating narrative of Shirley Ballas, the “Queen of Latin” and the enigmatic figure gracing the dance floor of Strictly Come Dancing, I am left in awe of her resilience and zest for life. From conquering health scares to immersing herself in transformative retreats, Shirley’s journey is nothing short of inspiring.

On Thursday, Shirley Ballas showcased her stunning appearance in a spotted two-piece swimsuit on Instagram, marking the beginning of her sixth consecutive day following a diet consisting solely of fruit juices.

63-year-old Strictly Come Dancing judge shared a post on her Instagram Stories, highlighting her sleek physique while enjoying a stay at the Juice Master Retreat in Portugal.

She captioned the snap: ‘Starting day six at @juicemasterretreats feeling so much better cleaner lighter head space more clear.

1. It’s essential for me to do this annually, as it helps me feel centered. @JasonVale truly offers the best place, thank you, Jason, for your continued support and positive impact on countless individuals in Portugal.

At the destination known as Juicy Oasis Portugal, visitors will consume nothing but fresh juices for a span of seven days. As stated on their site, there’s no traditional food offered; however, a salad may be provided optionally during arrival and departure.

Guests can stay for multiple weeks, but Jason recommends a maximum of four consecutive stays.

Prices start at £1600 and there is a second retreat, Juicy Mountain Turkey.

In a questionable decision, people as young as 14 can join, and there won’t be any healthcare workers present if a week without food becomes too difficult for some participants.)

In 2023 and also in 2022, Shirley recorded her journeys to the retreat that she revisited in August of the same year.

In 2023, just one week before the new series of Strictly, Shirley revealed she lost 9lbs.

At the retreat, which is enjoyed by Alison Hammond as well, Shirley shared that she was made to exercise rigorously through spin and yoga sessions, and invigorated every day with a two-hour morning trek.

The dancer shared with TopMob then: “I shed about 9 pounds. I plan on continuing yoga all through the Strictly competition. I’ve also detoxified my body, I undergo colon hydrotherapy, and I wake up at 5 am daily.”

Instead of sunbathing, I spent my time attending every spin class and embarking on a two-hour hike up steep hills, pushing my heart rate to nearly 179 beats per minute. It was an incredibly challenging week, yet upon returning, I felt completely rejuvenated.

2022 saw Shirley taking a retreat following a health alarm when a fan-discovered lump in her armpit prompted extensive examinations of all her internal organs, due to past medical concerns.

Thankfully, the results came back all clear for all organs.

During the retreat, Shirley displayed a snapshot of her packed daily routine, encompassing sports like volleyball, yoga, strolls, and not forgetting juice-making sessions.

Captioning her post, Shirley penned: ‘Well what an experience here with @jasonvale @juicemasterretreats. It’s been absolutely transformative learning about juicing, The schedule is tough but you can do as much or as little as you like.

Today, I accomplished a lot and I’m drained yet proud. The hike was stunningly beautiful with views that left me speechless. All the classes were insightful, expertly delivered to cater to every level – quite impressive! I even gave volleyball a try today, and trampolining was quite an adventure on its own.

The “Queen of Latin” went on to say: “I’m glad I spent time focusing on myself, doing things that I have longed to do for ages, and I encountered some really amazing individuals. I even tried a colonic treatment, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and I genuinely felt lighter and cleaner, both inside and out.”

‘From now on, I’ll make sure to schedule facial massages with rainforest scrubs like the one I had in Portugal – it was simply extraordinary! Wowsers, what a fantastic time I had there with my friend and publicist, Lauran Sinclair. #PortugalLove’

In the year 2021, Shirley was examined via scans at King College Hospital following doctors’ alerts about unusually high levels of testosterone in her body.

Initially, doctors began examining a potential lump found in her armpit following the observation by worried spectators during Strictly in October.

Medical tests also revealed a shadow on her kidney, but the doctor gave her the all clear.

Starting on September 21st, Strictly Come Dancing is set to kick off its 22nd season, with Shirley taking her seat as judge yet again.

Everyone, whether supporters or critics, will eagerly observe as the BBC dance program recovers from the controversies that surfaced during this year.
