Shinobi Movie Adaptation in the Works at Universal Pictures
As someone who’s spent countless hours navigating through neon-lit streets and taking down hordes of evil henchmen as the agile ninja, Joe Musashi, I can hardly contain my excitement about the upcoming Shinobi movie! With Extraction director Sam Hargrave at the helm and a screenplay penned by Ken Kobayashi, this project is shaping up to be a masterful blend of action, suspense, and ninja-fu.
As a fervent admirer, I’m thrilled to share that Universal Pictures and SEGA are teaming up to bring the iconic Shinobi series to life on the big screen! This classic side-scroller franchise lets you step into the shoes of master ninja, Joe Musashi, as you wage war against the nefarious Neo Zeed crime syndicate. Can’t wait to see this epic tale unfold!
Director Sam Hargrave takes charge of the Shinobi movie, based on a script written by Ken Kobayashi (known for Sunny and Move On). Produced by Marc Platt, Adam Siegel, along with Dmitri M. Johnson at Story Kitchen, and Toru Nakahara from SEGA.
Mike Goldberg has signed on as the executive producer, while Timothy I. Stevenson will co-produce. The Shinobi film adaptation is now part of a lineup that includes a Streets of Rage movie in development, penned by Derek Kolstad who wrote John Wick; and also an upcoming Eternal Champions film.
A new Shinobi game is also on the way, with first details set to be revealed at a later date.
