Shia LaBeouf resurfaces after chaotic Mardi Gras arrest for three-hour walk and back-to-back church visits

Just days after a disorderly arrest during Mardi Gras, Shia LaBeouf seemed to be keeping a low profile in New Orleans, Louisiana.

On Thursday, the 39-year-old former Disney Channel star was spotted taking a walk in a local park. He wore a large, red San Francisco 49ers t-shirt and black shorts.

He styled his casual look with a pair of white socks and black slides. 

According to a witness who spoke with The Daily Mail, Shia LaBeouf walked over six miles, spending about three hours traveling from Uptown, through Central City, and into the Lower Garden District and Irish Channel areas of New Orleans.

After a busy morning that included walking, a visit to a home store, and a stop at Verizon, he decided to have lunch at Saj, a nice Mediterranean restaurant.

After a tough time with some legal issues – things got a little heated for me during the Mardi Gras celebrations in the French Quarter, unfortunately – I decided to keep things low-key and have dinner by myself. It just felt like the right thing to do to decompress and avoid any extra attention.

The actor was seen visiting two Catholic churches yesterday, likely to observe Ash Wednesday.

Okay, so I’ve been digging, and apparently, both churches – St. Francis of Assisi and St. Stephen – were actually shut down whenever he went to visit them! Can you believe it? It’s just… another layer to the whole thing, you know? It’s like he was drawn to places that were… unavailable. It’s fascinating, honestly.

He later changed into a pink T-shirt, shorts and sneakers as he continued about his day.

His recent outings followed a turbulent Tuesday that ended with LaBeouf behind bars. 

The actor was arrested in the early hours after a physical altercation.

Around 12:45 a.m., New Orleans police responded to a call on Royal Street about a fight involving two men.

According to witnesses, Shia LaBeouf became increasingly agitated at a business and was asked to leave by employees. They claim he then punched a man several times.

Police report that things got worse when LaBeouf came back and reportedly attacked the first person again, then punched another man in the face.

Witnesses reportedly attempted to restrain him until police arrived. 

Shia LaBeouf received medical attention for some injuries at a hospital before being taken to Orleans Parish Prison.

He was charged with two counts of simple battery.

According to a police statement given to the Daily Mail, officers responded to a report of an assault on Royal Street around 12:45 AM on February 17, 2026. Two men reported being assaulted in the 1400 block of the street.

Police say 39-year-old Shia LaBeouf was causing a commotion and acting aggressively at a business on Royal Street.

An employee tried to remove Shia LaBeouf from the building. After he was outside, LaBeouf reportedly punched the person several times with his fists.

‘The victims reported that LaBeouf left, but then came back, acting even more aggressive.’ 

According to police, several people tried to restrain the suspect, hoping he would leave if they let him go. However, he allegedly hit the first victim again, punching them in the upper body. He then reportedly attacked someone else, punching them in the nose.

Shia LaBeouf was restrained by people until the police could arrive. He was then taken to a hospital to be checked for injuries. After being released from the hospital, he was arrested and charged with two counts of assault.

LaBeouf was involved in a confrontation outside a bar in the city’s French Quarter.

A video obtained by TMZ shows Shia LaBeouf being treated by paramedics after a reported altercation. The cause of the fight is still unknown.

Shia LaBeouf, known for past legal issues and struggles with addiction, was in New Orleans last week to celebrate Mardi Gras.
