Shetland star Ashley Jenson reveals she relocated to Somerset after living in LA for six years to give her son Frankie, 16, ‘stability and space during his school years’ after family tragedy

Ashley Jenson decided to leave her exciting life in Los Angeles and return to the UK to provide a more stable environment for her teenage son following a difficult family event.

The 56-year-old Scottish actress moved to London and spent six years in Hollywood to further her career. While there, she became acquainted with famous actors like Kate Winslet, Samuel L. Jackson, and Daniel Radcliffe.

After that, she went back to the countryside and settled in Somerset, a place she feels deeply connected to.

Ashley explained to the Times that she relocated to provide her son, Frankie, with a stable and supportive environment throughout his schooling. She feels it was the right choice.

She playfully described living with her teenage son, saying she’s a bit of a clean freak and his bedroom is always a mess with laundry.

I often find heaps of dirty clothes building up, and no matter how much I wash, there’s always an even bigger pile waiting for me the next time I go in. It’s a mystery where it all keeps coming from!

The Shetland star also mentioned that her golden retriever, Lloyd, sheds a lot, so she’s stopped trying to keep her house perfectly clean.

The actress, who was nominated for an award, shared that she used to downplay her accomplishments at home, but now she’s starting to display them proudly as her son gets older.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m a big believer in surrounding yourself with things that inspire you and remind you of your journey. My home office is a perfect example – I have photos and even my Emmy nomination certificate displayed. Losing my mum really made me realize how precious time is. It’s a daily reminder to be present, appreciate every moment, and celebrate accomplishments – big or small! Why wouldn’t you want to be surrounded by things that make you feel good and remind you of what you’ve achieved?

Actress Ashley Jensen shares her son with Terence Beesley, an actor known for his role in EastEnders. Beesley, who was Jensen’s partner of 18 years, tragically died by suicide at their home in Somerset in 2017.

Ashley discovered his body inside the family’s Mercedes when she came home after spending the day with her eight-year-old son, Francis.

At an inquest the following year, she stated that she and Terry had been a couple for 18 years, and she was shocked by his actions.

The couple had met in 1999 and married in California before moving back to the UK.

After experiencing a difficult loss, she’s found love again with actor Kenny Doughty, 50. The couple quietly married in 2023.

The couple first connected while filming the 2017 BBC drama Love, Lies And Records. They were seen smiling throughout the August 9th ceremony, with the groom wearing a light blue suit and matching suede shoes.

Someone close to the situation shared with The Sun that Ashley and Kenny have been friends for a while, and he’s been a great source of support for her, especially recently.

Everyone is so happy for Ashley and her partner – they’re a perfect match! Ashley is a kind and talented person, and she truly deserves this new chance at happiness.
