New Irish drama The Lost Children of Tuam has confirmed its main cast as filming begins.
The upcoming feature film will star Monica Dolan, best known for her roles in “Sherwood” season 2 and “Mr Bates vs the Post Office,” as well as Ian McElhinney from “Game of Thrones” and “Derry Girls.” Additionally, Andrew Bennett from “God’s Creatures” and “The Quiet Girl” will also be part of the cast.
Drawing inspiration from true-life experiences, the movie chronicles Irish historian Catherine Corless’s personal journey as she embarks on an investigation into the Bon Secours Mother and Baby Home, a place significant to her early years.

Yet, her research uncovers indications suggesting as many as 800 children could be interred in unmarked graves on the premises. She then embarks on a mission to pursue justice.
In the 2010s, her story gained significant attention on a national level. The process of unearthing the mass graves associated with her story commenced just a few months ago.

In this production, Dolan acts opposite Corless. Meanwhile, Michael Inside’s director, Frank Berry, takes charge, and Rebecca Lenkiewicz, who penned The Salt Path, is responsible for the scriptwriting.
Corless expressed gratitude for having a diligent, skilled, and prominent film team producing a movie chronicling her challenging odyssey, which began with uncovering the truth about what transpired in Tuam and continued with the numerous hurdles she encountered while trying to bring that truth to public knowledge.
It’s quite striking to see how deeply committed Frank Berry and his team seem to be in uncovering the truth about the events, and I appreciate their dedication immensely – after all, it mirrors the core values that have guided me throughout my lengthy voyage.
It’s often believed that great films never fade away, and I’m confident that the film, ‘The Lost Children of Tuam,’ will certainly earn such a distinction.

The movie is being co-produced by BBC Film, Screen Ireland, along with several other companies and individuals, among them being the renowned Liam Neeson.
Eight years in the making, it’s an immense honor and source of pride for us to finally embark on the production of this powerful narrative. This story follows one woman’s tireless quest and unwavering determination to expose the appalling truth behind the events in Tuam, a revelation that sent shockwaves through our nation and continues to echo profoundly in every corner of society today. As they say, ‘the truth will prevail.’
