The new Beatles movies are gaining some well-known actors, including David Morrissey from Sherwood and Arthur Darvill of Doctor Who. The four films will explore the story of the famous band, with each movie focusing on a different member. Harris Dickinson, Paul Mescal, Joseph Quinn, and Barry Keoghan will play John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, respectively.
The cast list is growing! Morrissey will play Paul McCartney’s father, Jim, and Darvill will portray the band’s press officer, Derek Taylor.
The cast also includes Leanne Best (from Ted Lasso) as Aunt Mimi, Bobby Schofield (SAS: Rogue Heroes) as Neil Aspinall, and Daniel Hoffmann-Gill (Sherwood) as Mal Evans. Adam Pally (The Mindy Project) will play Allen Klein, and Harry Lloyd (Prime Target) will portray producer George Martin.

The cast continues to grow with the additions of Mia McKenna-Bruce (from The Dumping Ground) as Maureen Starkey, Saoirse Ronan (Little Women) as Linda McCartney, Anna Sawai (Shōgun) as Yoko Ono, and Aimee Lou Wood (The White Lotus) as Pattie Boyd. James Norton (House of Guinness) will portray manager Brian Epstein.
Scheduled for release in April 2028, The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event boasts a talented creative team. The project is directed by Sam Mendes, who previously worked on 1917, and the screenplay is a collaboration between Jez Butterworth (Spectre), Peter Straughan (Conclave), and Jack Thorne (Adolescence).

Earlier this year, Mendes described the project as the first movie experience designed to be watched like a binge-worthy TV series, stating that audiences need compelling reasons to go to the cinema.
The director explained the choice to divide the story into four films, stating he wanted to avoid creating a TV series, but the narrative was simply too expansive for just one movie.
The BBC recently announced a new drama series, Hamburg Days, which will tell the story of The Beatles’ beginnings.

The story focuses on the band’s time in Hamburg, Germany, and how they met and interacted with two local artists, Klaus Voormann and Astrid Kirchherr, who helped shape their early image and sound.
The story shows how they came together to create something incredible, turning a humble group of teens into The Beatles – the most famous band in history.
The Beatles — A Four-Film Cinematic Event will be released in April 2028.
