Sheridan Smith’s Shocking New Role After Secretly AXING Tell-All Autobiography
Sheridan Smith got stuck into filming on set of her new drama The Cage in Liverpool on Tuesday.
In the upcoming BBC One series, the actress, aged 43, was spotted filming alongside her co-star Barry Sloane, who is also 44 years old.
The pair looked in great spirits for the upcoming high-energy BBC crime show.
The English actress cut a casual figure in a bright yellow jumper, teamed with a black midi skirt.
In a housing complex, the luminous figure from the Gavin & Stacey series filmed brightly lit sequences, as she seemed to be navigating throughout the building.
As a devoted follower, I’d like to share that this captivating drama, penned by BAFTA-nominated Tony Schumacher (The Responder), unfolds a tale about Leanne (Sheridan) and Matty (Michael). In an unexpected twist, we find these two characters, who happen to work at the same inner-city casino, uncovering their shared secret – they’ve both been stealing from the casino’s safe.

The five-part series will be directed by Al Mackay (Kidnapped, Without Sin).
Writer Tony hinted: ‘I’m expecting folks to find it amusing, a bit gloomy, yet above all, overflowing with affection, vitality, and enjoyment. I can hardly contain my excitement until the world gets a peek at it.’
After it emerged that Sheridan had postponed indefinitely the publication of her eagerly anticipated autobiography titled Honestly, she has now taken on a new job.
2021 saw the announcement of a revealing memoir, which aims to delve into the actress’s most challenging periods. This includes her fights against alcoholism, mental health issues, and high-profile romances, such as those with actor James Corden and Jamie Horn, the father of her child.
Despite several postponements, it turns out that the project had to be abandoned due to Sheridan’s heavy workload over the past few years, leaving the final details of the book unfinished.
Her perspective has shifted, and she’s hesitant about publishing this particular account. She’s uncertain if she’s ready to share the entirety of her life story with a wider audience.
It was not unexpected for those who follow the career of The Huntsman’s performer, given his persistent challenges over time.

2016 saw the actress experiencing a high-profile collapse during her role in the West End’s Funny Girl production.
In the face of mounting stress, fatigue, and my father’s cancer battle, I found myself grappling with my mental health challenges. As a result, I felt compelled to step away from the show temporarily for self-care and healing.
Looking back on it, Sheridan confessed: ‘I was deeply embarrassed about that phase in my life. I strayed from the right path somewhat, choosing poorly in romantic partners… Now, with motherhood, I’m incredibly thankful for all I possess. I have a sense that the best is still to come.’
The BAFTA-winning actress is not hesitant about talking openly about her struggles with mental health, frequently linking these issues to the stresses of stardom and grief.
Her father’s death in 2016 profoundly affected her, leading to an extended period of grief.
In her latest interview, she conveyed how the general population consistently supported me. On numerous occasions, I’ve been approached on the street with warm embraces. This outpouring of empathy and understanding is something I am deeply grateful for.
