The show titled “The Cage” hails from the mind of Tony Schumacher, the creator of “The Responder“, who is involved as a writer and producer for this upcoming series set in Liverpool. It revolves around two characters who uncover that they’ve both been attempting to pilfer from the very casino where they are employed.

The series is divided into five segments, with Al Mackay at the helm. He’s a director who has previously managed episodes for shows like Kidnapped, Without Sin, Cobra, and Humans.

Smith, Schumacher, Hilary Martin, Christopher Aird, Ed Guiney, Andrew Lowe, and Lucy Richer are among the executive producers, while Clare Shepherd serves as the producer.

The Cage is frequently referred to as a “thrilling, action-packed crime narrative” taking place in the bustling environment of a Liverpool casino, with “two indelible characters” serving as the story’s core.

In my gaming world, I find myself as Leanne and Matty, characters played by actors from Showtrial and Being Human. We uncover a secret, that we’ve both been pilfering from the inner-city casino where we work. This revelation thrusts us into a tumultuous journey, crossing paths with each other, a local gangster whose money we’re lifting, and the relentless pursuit of the police.

Aird and Martin characterized the series as a blend of crime drama, familial saga, and a hint of romantic tale. Additionally, they commended Schumacher’s ability to create characters who evoke deep emotional responses, capable of stirring one’s emotions so profoundly that they leave you heartbroken.

They remarked, “At times amusing, touching, exhilarating, and melancholic, this is how I’d describe it.” They also noted that “Al Mackay has a knack for capturing genuine personalities, and he will undoubtedly tell Tony’s tale with zest and enthusiasm.

When will The Cage be released?

It remains undecided when exactly The Cage will be released, but it is set to broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

Filming is currently happening at various spots across Liverpool, Merseyside, and even Wirral. Based on this timeline, we might be able to watch it on TV next year.
