Sheridan Smith says she would ‘love’ to return for Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps reboot as she joins co-star Will Mellor’s calls to revive the iconic BBC comedy

Sheridan Smith expresses her enthusiasm about potentially reprising her role in a revival of Two Pints Of Larger And A Packet Of Crisps, a beloved BBC comedy series that ended 14 years ago.

The series, centered around a group of young adults residing in Runcorn, propelled its current BAFTA award recipient, aged 44, into fame, joining forces with fellow cast members Ralph Little, Will Mellor, Natalie Casey, and Kathryn Drysdale.

Discussing her fondness for potentially reprising her role, Sheridan shared with Daily Mail that she thoroughly enjoyed filming the series, which aired from 2001 to 2011 and is still frequently broadcast on BBC3. This year, an impressive 113 episodes were shown alone.

In December, Will, aged 49, who portrayed Gaz, expressed his support for a comeback and disclosed that he had received a script for the remake, referred to as “Two Pints: The Final Call.

The show concluded with many of its initial actors no longer part of it. Ralf left following series six, while Sheridan and Kathryn departed after the eighth season.

Despite requests from fans for a revival of the series in recent times, Will stated to Daily Mail: “I have indeed made efforts. In fact, I managed to get a script penned by our creator, Susan Nixon. The title of this initial draft is ‘Two Pints Last Orders’.

It felt like the climactic finale, a sort of ‘where are they now?’ scenario. As for Johnny, he’s not deceased, but rather in hiding to avoid repaying a debt to a moneylender.

Despite both BBC and BBC Three turning down your idea, they seem to be replaying older content that is currently receiving the highest viewership. This might leave one questioning their decisions.

I’ve agreed to take on the task, and so has Ralph. Even if it were a lengthy Christmas special, he’d still be willing to do it, all for the sake of the fans.

The series gained a devoted following, and without their continuous backing, it likely wouldn’t have endured as long as it did.

Previously, I suggested that we could fund and produce it ourselves, but if we were to distribute it as a streaming service, your viewers would need to pay to access it. Given our current financial struggles, this might not be the most feasible option.

I’m unable to do that as it seems unfair to charge viewers for content they’ve already supported. I believe the responsibility should fall on a broadcasting channel instead.

‘But as I say, my hands are a bit tied. We need a channel to take it up.’

Following Sheridan’s disclosure, it emerged that they exchanged a heartfelt note during their collaboration on the 2012 comedy film “Quartet,” which was penned by the late Dame Maggie Smith.

The actress discussed her experiences collaborating with the iconic actor, who tragically passed away at the age of 89 in September of last year.

In the film, Sheridan, playing Dr. Lucy Cogan, disclosed that Dame Maggie noticed her apprehension on set and encouraged her by saying they should support each other.

In an interview with Good Housekeeping UK, it was shared that Dame Maggie Smith was stunning in the film “Quartet,” directed by Dustin Hoffman. On the first day, she noticed the actress’s nervousness and offered reassurance, saying, ‘Let’s band together, as fellow Smiths.’

Sheridan also shared the sweet gesture the Harry Potter star made when her dad passed away.

She added: ‘When my dad passed, she sent me a beautiful card that I still cherish.’

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’d rephrase that as follows:

In my experience, there was a fascinating film centered around a home for retired musicians. The yearly concert, held to honor the birthday of the esteemed Composer Giuseppe Verdi, took an unexpected turn with the arrival of Jean, a timeless diva and ex-wife of one of our residents – Dame Maggie Smith herself.

In my line of work as a lifestyle expert, I couldn’t help but express my admiration for Dame Maggie during our filming sessions. I truly believe she is a genius in her field, and I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn from her. She took me under her wing, guiding me through the industry with her wisdom and experience.

At that point, the actor from Gavin and Stacey expressed admiration, commenting: “She’s incredibly talented. Watching her perform, it seems as though she’s not even reciting scripted lines.

“She has been mentoring me; she’s incredibly kind-hearted. For her production of Hedda Gabler, she gifted me an opening night present and card, called to leave me a message the other day, and I’m absolutely touched by it all.
