As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt and a special fondness for the open-world adventure genre, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement at the news that ININ Games has acquired the rights to Shenmue III. I vividly remember the magic of the original Dreamcast classics, and the anticipation that accompanied their follow-up in 2019.
It’s been confirmed by ININ Games that they have obtained the rights for the highly anticipated game, Shenmue III, previously held by Ys Net. This acquisition has fans excited as it potentially paves the way for the 2019 sequel of the classic Sega Dreamcast series to be released on Xbox consoles.
In 2018, the high-definition remastered versions of Shenmue I & II became available on Xbox One. However, Shenmue III was only released for PlayStation 4 and PC, skipping Xbox entirely. Last year, Air Twister, developed by Ys Net under Yu Suzuki, did arrive on Xbox. Unfortunately, there’s been no news about the availability of Shenmue III on Xbox yet.
As a company recognized for our dedication to reviving cherished games and expanding their reach, ININ Games is thrilled to guide Shenmue III into its subsequent stage,” as stated in the official declaration.
At ININ Games, we feel privileged to continue the legacy of Shenmue as a pivotal point in the series unfolds. Looking back on two decades of groundbreaking ideas and heartfelt dedication, we remain committed to upholding and delivering Ryo Hazuki’s adventure to both seasoned fans and newcomers alike.
ININ announces that they intend to commemorate the fifth anniversary of Shenmue III and the 25th year since the original Shenmue was launched on Dreamcast in 1999. Shenmue II appeared three years later, in 2002. Here’s hoping that the release of Shenmue III on Xbox is included in their celebratory plans.
