Purple is a key color in *Brawl Stars*, and its prominence actually started with one simple design element: the color of Shelly’s hair.
Supercell revealed that Shelly, one of the original characters in Brawl Stars, was initially designed with black hair. While early sketches showed a more natural appearance, the developers ultimately chose a vibrant purple color instead.
The reasoning? Purple simply felt more fun.
Interestingly, the character Shelly was originally planned to have black hair, but the developers thought purple would be a more playful choice. This decision ultimately led to purple becoming a prominent color throughout the game.

While it might not seem like much, this change actually had a big impact beyond just how Shelly looked. Her purple hair helped define the overall look of *Brawl Stars*, and the color became a consistent feature in the game’s menus, character designs, and branding.
A small change – swapping out one character – unexpectedly led to the game’s distinctive visual style and vibrant world.
It’s funny to think of Shelly with any hair color other than purple now. That shade became her signature look and, eventually, a key color for the entire *Brawl Stars* world.
