Tatiana Maslany, the lead actress in She-Hulk, encouraged fans to cancel their Disney+ subscriptions in support of Hollywood’s reaction to Jimmy Kimmel being temporarily removed from television.
On Thursday, the 39-year-old actress used her Instagram to support a comedian after ABC suspended his late-night talk show. The suspension came after he made comments about Charlie Kirk and is currently open-ended.
I still can’t believe it. He was only 31! I was such a huge fan, and it’s just… devastating. He was giving a speech at UVU last week when someone shot him. It’s so unfair. He leaves behind his wife, Erika, and their two little kids. My heart breaks for them. It just doesn’t seem real.
During his Monday show, Jimmy Kimmel suggested that Tyler Robinson, the suspected shooter, may have been a Republican, and accused supporters of Donald Trump of attempting to exploit the tragedy of Kirk’s death for political gain.
Tatiana Maslany shared a photo from the set of the Disney+ show *She-Hulk: Attorney at Law*, giving fans a peek behind the scenes.
She then added text at the top which read: ‘Cancel your @disneyplus @hulu @espn subscriptions.’

Other celebrities have come to Kimmel’s defense since Jimmy Kimmel Live! was taken off the air.
On Monday, the actor stated that supporters of Donald Trump, or the ‘MAGA gang,’ were working hard to distance themselves from the person who attacked Charlie Kirk, and were attempting to use the incident to their political advantage.
He hinted the suspected shooter was conservative, even though investigators said the shooter held far-left beliefs and was dating his transgender roommate.
Jimmy Kimmel also made fun of President Trump, jokingly wondering how upset the president was about a recent event. He then played a clip of Trump avoiding the topic and instead talking about renovations to the White House ballroom when a reporter expressed sympathy for the loss of someone Trump knew.
ABC has put Jimmy Kimmel Live! on hold indefinitely, according to a network spokesperson who made the announcement on Wednesday.
Nexstar, the network’s affiliate group, also stated they ‘strongly disagree’ with Kimmel’s remarks and will substitute the show with different programs in the areas where they broadcast ABC.
Ben Stiller shared the news that ABC was removing Jimmy Kimmel from the air on X, simply writing, ‘This isn’t right.’
John Legend shared a post from David Frum highlighting a double standard. Frum questioned why people are labeled as ‘fascist’ for actions like threatening TV networks with consequences if comedians criticize them – essentially, punishing speech they dislike.

Josh Gad expressed concern that people are becoming too complacent in the face of authoritarianism, stating, ‘God help us all.’
Actress Alison Brie shared a news alert on Instagram: ‘This is unreal. And very scary.’
Henry Winkler shared on X (formerly Twitter) that Jimmy Kimmel is funny, insightful, and a genuinely kind person, adding that Kimmel’s work helps us understand ourselves.
As someone who believes in second chances and open dialogue, I was really touched by Jamie Lee Curtis sharing a message from Jimmy Kimmel. She reposted a photo of him on her Instagram, along with his quote saying he doesn’t believe anyone should be ‘canceled.’ It’s a sentiment I wholeheartedly agree with – everyone deserves the opportunity to learn and grow.
The quote comes from an April 2025 interview Kimmel did with Rolling Stone.
Curtis became emotional and tearful while remembering Kirk as a deeply religious man, even drawing a comparison to Jesus Christ, during an interview on the WTF podcast with Marc Maron this week.
Right after it became public that Jimmy Kimmel was suspended, his assistant Guillermo Rodriguez and other members of the show’s team were spotted packing their things and leaving the studio.
Rodriguez, a regular guest on the late-night talk show since 2003, was spotted leaving the Hollywood studio as a small crowd watched.
He avoided answering questions about Jimmy Kimmel being taken off the air by simply refusing to engage, keeping his car windows closed to reporters.

Jimmy Kimmel was planning to discuss the controversy surrounding his recent comments on his show Wednesday, but he was informed he’d been removed from the show before he could, according to Deadline.
The TV personality is now said to be livid over the sudden change of plans.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following the situation closely, and it was really heartening to see the Hollywood unions – like SAG-AFTRA and the WGA – rally around Jimmy Kimmel after the news about his show surfaced. It showed a real sense of solidarity within the industry.
SAG-AFTRA strongly opposes the suspension of ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ The union stated that freedom of expression is vital to our society.
Silencing people and punishing them for sharing their views on important public matters goes against the basic rights we all depend on.
A healthy democracy depends on open discussion and the free exchange of ideas. Canceling Jimmy Kimmel Live! is a concerning act of censorship and punishment that threatens everyone’s right to express themselves.
SAG-AFTRA supports all artists in media and believes everyone has the right to share and hear different perspectives.
As a firm believer in creative freedom, I was deeply moved by the recent statement from the WGA. They put it perfectly: the ability to express ourselves, even to challenge and disrupt, is fundamental to what it means to live freely. It’s a right we absolutely cannot afford to lose.
‘Not by violence, not by the abuse of governmental power, nor by acts of corporate cowardice.’

The Guild firmly opposes anyone who uses their power to silence writers or suppress dissenting opinions.
Okay, look, I just *get* why people say we need free speech, and it’s not about protecting things we already agree with! Seriously, what would be the point of even *having* that right written down if it only covered stuff we already thought was great? It’s about the hard part – letting people say things you *hate*, things that really bother you. That’s the whole deal, isn’t it? We basically signed up for a deal where people are allowed to disagree, even when it’s painful. It’s tough, but that’s freedom, right?
It’s a disgrace when government officials ignore this basic principle. And to our employers, remember that our contributions have brought you success. Suppressing our voices ultimately harms everyone.
Donald Trump celebrated the news of Jimmy Kimmel’s show being cancelled, posting on his Truth Social account on Wednesday that it was ‘Great News for America’ and noting the show had struggled with ratings.
I’m so relieved ABC finally made the right call! Honestly, I never understood the hype around Kimmel. He just doesn’t have what it takes, and it’s not even close – his numbers are even worse than Colbert’s, which is saying something!
Trump finished by criticizing Jimmy and Seth, calling them ‘total losers’ and pointing to low ratings for their show on NBC. He urged NBC to take action, signing off as ‘President DJT’.
I was really surprised to hear the President mention Stephen Colbert the other day. It brought up a lot of conversation, especially since CBS actually cancelled his show back in July. It’s always interesting when these things come up in the news, isn’t it?
The Late Show With Stephen Colbert will come to an end next year in May 2026.
Even though his show was canceled, Stephen Colbert won an Emmy for Outstanding Talk Series over the weekend. He jokingly pointed out on Tuesday that Donald Trump doesn’t have one, using it as a playful start to his show.
Just a day after his talk show was put on hold, Jimmy Kimmel was spotted in Los Angeles on Thursday. He was driving a stylish black car as he left a parking garage.

On Wednesday, Sinclair Inc., the company that broadcasts Jimmy Kimmel Live! on many local stations, announced that the show will be replaced with a special honoring Charlie Kirk.
The broadcaster stated they won’t re-air the show until they have a formal conversation with ABC about maintaining professional standards and taking responsibility for issues that arise.
The company asked Kimmel to sincerely apologize to the Kirk family and to personally donate to both the Kirk family and Turning Point USA.
Turning Point USA, a nonprofit organization co-founded by Kirk, announced that his wife, Erika, will be taking on the role of CEO, effective Thursday.
