Looking relaxed and happy by the pool with a glass of champagne, Binky Felstead from Made In Chelsea seemed completely at peace.
Living in Dubai with her husband, Max Darnton, and their three kids, she’s enjoying everything the lavish Banyan Leaf hotel and its beautiful beach have to offer.
It’s simple – just like her 1.4 million Instagram followers, I just needed to check my phone to find out.
Binky, age 35, has openly shared details of her recent getaway, posting with the message: ‘I felt like something was missing… but all I needed was a vacation.’
Binky has received several complimentary trips over the past year in exchange for positive reviews on her social media. These include a stay at the luxurious Boca Raton hotel and club in Florida, and a family vacation to Disney World in Orlando with her partner Max and their children.
She enjoyed several luxurious getaways, starting with a short trip to New York and a stay at the stylish Lowell hotel. She then took a cruise with P&O, visiting places like Malta, followed by a relaxing glamping experience at The Nest in Lincolnshire. Other highlights included a stay at the upscale Beaverbrook hotel in Surrey Hills, and a visit to the Four Seasons in Hampshire, where her children enjoyed horse riding and she relaxed with massages and cocktails.
Even a short £12 boat trip on the River Thames felt expensive, especially since it was with Citycruises.
That might seem reasonable, but you’d be surprised how often Binky expects things to be given to her without paying. Even people who aren’t easily shocked would be amazed at how much she asks for for free.
Step forward Reshmi Bennett, owner of luxury cake business Anges de Sucre in west London.
On Friday, she publicly criticized Binky for requesting a free, large yellow train cake – enough to feed ten people – for her son Wilder’s third birthday. Binky asked for the cake in exchange for posting a photo of it on Instagram.
In a playful jab, Reshmi created a fake GoFundMe page aiming to raise £1.4 million – a dig at Binky Felstead’s 1.4 million social media followers – and titled it ‘Fundraising for Binky Felstead’s 3-Year-Old’s Birthday Cake’.
Reshmi shared a picture of a cake she made, explaining that the team for Binky Felstead requested it. The cake was designed as a yellow train for Binky’s son, who was turning three.
Oh my gosh, when we got the order, we were absolutely ecstatic! Seriously, making cakes for kids is what we live for, and this one sounded amazing – plus, it was for a star from one of my favorite shows! I was practically bouncing off the walls with excitement, honestly.
There was just one minor issue: the suggested way to pay was through an Instagram story. We realize things are difficult, particularly for content creators…
Our energy company is stuck in the past and still requires payment with cash, rather than accepting things like publicity or social media promotion.
To make matters worse, it came out that Binky had offered to promote Funfetti London on Instagram in 2021, hoping to get a wedding and birthday cake in return. The baker says she made the cake, but Binky then ignored her and even refused to cover the £75 travel expenses.
According to someone who used to work with her, Binky seems to live a very privileged life and enjoys receiving free items. They suggest she rarely pays for things, pointing to her frequent vacations and questioning how she balances leisure with work. It’s become common for reality TV personalities to expect free products or services from small businesses in exchange for promotion, and this situation feels excessive.
A representative for Binky explained that agreements like this are common in the industry and generally benefit everyone involved.
Binky isn’t the only one looking to make money. Her Made In Chelsea co-stars, Ollie and Gareth Locke – who recently complained about their mental health after falling behind on £25,000 rent for their £4 million house – are well-known for enjoying free gifts and perks.
Millie Mackintosh, known from the show Made In Chelsea, is also taking part. Other celebrities joining the competition include Denise Van Outen, Stacey Solomon, and former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Pete Wicks.
According to one showbiz agent, some people in the industry feel entitled and expect freebies. They believe they shouldn’t have to pay for anything, and the agent finds this behavior shockingly inappropriate, calling them outright con artists.
People who know Binky told me yesterday that many small businesses are eager to collaborate with her for publicity. They expressed confusion over why Reshmi rejected the chance to work with her.
Honestly, it’s just… unbelievable. If Binky wants something, she gets it. Like, seriously, it’s almost scary how effective she is. Just look at her house – the renovations are insane! It’s proof that nobody ever tells her ‘no’. She always gets exactly what she wants, always.
She’s decorated her bedroom, living room, dining room, and barn with furniture from Oka, a brand she frequently features on her social media accounts.
The downstairs toilet features fixtures from Drummonds Bathrooms, and the bathroom’s tiles, flooring, and paint all come from Fired Earth.
She probably doesn’t spend much on groceries because she has a partnership with M&S, and they supply a lot of her meals.
‘Nice, if you can get it,’ mused one of her friends. ‘She literally has no shame.’
Okay, so I had to reach out to Binky’s publicist, right? I just needed to know what she thought about everything. He said she was on vacation, which is…fine, I guess. But he totally dodged the question of whether I was paying for it! Like, seriously? I’m already stalking her Instagram, waiting for a picture of a fancy resort or something – that’ll tell me everything, honestly. I need to know if she’s living her best life on my dime!
