Shawn Mendes reveals why he opened up about past pregnancy scare after sexuality revelation

26-year-old musician, known for the Heart of Gold, openly shared that he’s still exploring his identity regarding sexual orientation. He additionally shared an instance where he pondered if he might become a father.
On the song “Why Why Why” from his latest album, Shawn expresses the experience he had with an unidentified companion regarding a potential pregnancy.
The lyrics express something like: ‘I thought I was on the verge of becoming a father, which shook me deeply since I’m still young at heart / There are moments when I long for my mother.’
In an interview with The New York Times, I shared how that particular experience significantly shaped and enriched my understanding of life as a person.
The hitmaker was initially against writing about that fraught period in his life, when one of his collaborators suggested it might be good for a song, but later changed his mind.
He expressed, “What’s the point of me doing this, if it’s not to delve into such intricacies?” was his statement to the media outlet.
‘And also, I wanted to break down any walls that were remaining, between me and people listening.’
The song also deals with Mendes’ mental health struggles.
Instead of saying “He bravely cancelled his 2022 tour,” you could rephrase it as “He courageously decided to postpone his 2022 tour.” The original sentence’s second part can be paraphrased as “He explained that he needed time ‘to ground myself and come back stronger.’ He has since made a return, appearing recently at the MTV Video Music Awards.” This version maintains the same meaning while being more natural and easy to read.
In an interview on Zane Lowe’s Apple Music 1 show in August, he stated that he found himself at a crossroads, essentially saying, “I have two paths before me: I can choose to express my genuine feelings openly or I can tiptoe around the issue.
‘It felt pointless to dance around it, even if the song was never to see the light of day.’
For a number of years, the charming Canadian musician who was once linked with singer Camila Cabello (aged 27) shared, in an interview with The New York Times, that although they are no longer romantically attached, their affection for one another remains.
Mendes said he calls the Havana artist often.
As a lifestyle consultant, I’d put it this way: “I must admit, the very thought of it makes me feel a bit jittery, as people might expect. Yet, if an unexpected event were to occur within my family or involving myself, she would undoubtedly be the first person I’d reach out to. This sentiment remains true even today.
‘Our relationship is teaching me what love means, in a big way.’
