Sharon Osbourne reveals Ozzy was warned by doctors he could die on stage at his farewell concert: ‘He knew his body was failing him but he just wanted to thank his fans’

Doctors told Ozzy Osbourne his health was so fragile, they didn’t think he’d make it through his final concert at Villa Park in Birmingham.

Despite knowing his health was rapidly declining, the musician chose to ignore doctors’ recommendations and perform for his fans one final time, according to his wife, Sharon.

Ozzy Osbourne, the iconic frontman of Black Sabbath, passed away from heart failure at his home in Buckinghamshire on July 22nd. This came just three weeks after he played a final concert with his bandmates in his hometown.

In an upcoming interview with Piers Morgan, 73-year-old Sharon Osbourne became emotional while discussing Ozzy’s health struggles and the immense effort he made to perform for his fans despite being in severe pain.

The former X Factor judge explained that Ozzy knew his time was limited, as he had been seriously ill for a year.

According to The Sun, Sharon shared that when they arrived in England and met with the new medical team treating her husband, the lead doctor warned him that continuing with the show would jeopardize his health and chances of recovery.

We just sat there as he repeatedly stated his determination to go through with it, even though he knew his body was giving out. He was suffering terribly, and kept emphasizing how much pain he was in.

Sharon explained that Ozzy recently faced several health challenges, including pneumonia, sepsis, and a painful back injury. His back problems were worsened by a previous quad bike accident in 2003.

The musician also fought Parkinson’s Disease, receiving a diagnosis in 2003 but keeping it private until 2020.

Sharon told Piers: ‘He had pneumonia three times this year. He’d had sepsis.

‘That’s what really, really destroyed him.

He was receiving antibiotic injections twice a day, and each injection took about 20 minutes to administer. The antibiotics were very strong, killing both harmful and beneficial bacteria in his system, and he struggled to recover from their effects. He simply couldn’t bounce back.

Sharon explained that Ozzy was determined to perform to express his gratitude, as he privately believed his time was nearing its end.

She added: ‘He didn’t want to die on stage, he didn’t. But he did it his way’.

Over 42,000 fans attended the Back To The Beginning show. During his final remarks, the performer expressed his gratitude, saying, ‘You can’t imagine how much this means to me – thank you from the bottom of my heart.’

Sharon mentioned that Ozzy was thrilled after his concert, really touched by all the support he received, and surprised by how many fans he had.

She said he was incredibly happy for two weeks, happier than they’d seen him in seven years. Every day felt wonderful for him.

This follows Sharon and Kelly Osbourne’s heartfelt birthday messages to Ozzy last week.

It was a bittersweet day – what would have been my partner’s 77th birthday. I wanted to honor his memory, so I shared some incredibly special, never-before-seen photos of us together on Instagram. It was a lovely way to remember all the happy times we shared.

She wrote a heartfelt message to accompany the slideshow: ‘My love, happy birthday! I’ll hold your hand through everything, until we meet again.’

Sharon Osbourne posted a touching video showing a floral birthday message for Ozzy on the Black Sabbath Bridge in Birmingham. The message, which read ‘Happy Birthday Ozzy,’ was set to his song ‘See You On The Other Side.’

A sign made by four of his six children – Louis, Aimee, Kelly, and Jack – was displayed with the message, ‘We love you, Daddy!’

Kelly also shared a birthday message, writing, ‘Happy birthday, Daddy! I miss you and love you more than anything!’ She included some childhood photos of them together.

She also posted photos from a floral display in Birmingham, writing a birthday message to her father. She said he lived an extraordinary life and, though she misses him dearly, she honors his memory every day by living and loving as he would have wanted.
