Shannen Doherty’s estate sparks legal battle with ex Kurt Iswarienko over $1.5M Texas home and unpaid money

Shannen Doherty is involved in a legal dispute with her former husband, Kurt Iswarienko, regarding promises he didn’t keep after their divorce.

The actress known for Beverly Hills, 90210 died on July 13, 2024, at 53 years old, after a courageous fight against breast cancer that had spread to other parts of her body.

Doherty finalized her divorce right before she died. She signed the legal documents one day before her passing, and a judge approved them the following day.

As a longtime follower of this case, I’ve been reading the latest updates, and it’s really concerning. Apparently, the estate is now claiming that Valeriy Iswarienko hasn’t held up his end of the divorce agreement. Specifically, they’re saying he didn’t properly document their shared home in Dripping Springs, Texas – the one worth $1.5 million – by the deadline that was set. It’s a serious issue, and it seems like they’re prepared to take legal action.

Iswarienko is also being accused of not paying over $50,000 that he supposedly owes to the estate and of refusing to give back personal items belonging to Doherty.

The Daily Mail reached out to Chris Cortazzo, who manages Shannen Doherty’s family trust, his legal team, and Iswarienko, along with his representative, for a response.

Cortazzo made these claims in a legal document as part of his attempt to take over a court judgement originally involving Doherty and Iswarienko. He filed the document on November 24th, and included a copy of their divorce decree with it.

The court ruling states that Iswarienko committed to listing their Texas home for sale by April 1, 2025, and will split the profits from the sale equally with Doherty’s estate.

According to the court filing, as of today, the Respondent hasn’t listed the Texas house for sale and also hasn’t returned the Decedent’s personal belongings.

Iswarienko and Doherty also agreed that after selling their airplane hangar, Iswarienko would buy Doherty’s share of their Mooney-20 airplane for $100,000.

However the filing alleges Iswarienko withheld $50,274 from his ex’s estate.

In August 2024, one month after the person died, the Respondent kept $50,274 from the money owed to their estate when the Hangar was sold.

The respondent was required to pay the estate within five business days of the hangar sale, or by August 21, 2024. That payment is now 15 months overdue.

They also state that Iswarienko hasn’t provided a promised list of works created while they were married, nor copies of anything he published during that time.

The couple’s agreement specified that Doherty would get half of the money her ex-husband earned from licensing or selling any work he created while they were married, with a few exceptions. He also agreed to take down all photos of her from his website.

He was to create the lists by September 1, 2024, however the estate claims he has failed to do so.

According to the filing, the respondent has not provided a list of his creative works and copies of those works published during the marriage, despite being legally required to do so. He is now over 14 months late in fulfilling this obligation as outlined in the court’s judgment.

Doherty passed away in 2024, four years after she was diagnosed with stage four cancer.

She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 then went into remission in 2017.

Leslie Sloane, her publicist, said she passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and her dog, Bowie.
