Shane Warne’s son Jackson breaks his silence on the shocking way he found out his father had died: ‘I looked at him as Superman’

Jackson Warne shared insights about the private events that transpired on the day when his renowned father, Shane Warne, passed away.

For the initial time discussing this unfortunate incident, the 26-year-old mentioned that he and some of his relatives were present when they received news that Shane, aged 52, had succumbed to a fatal heart attack.

In a recent interview, three years following the passing of his father, Jackson expressed it as, “That was the most difficult phone call I have ever had.

On Monday, Jackson shared with the Herald Sun that he was with his mother, Simone Callahan, and his elder sister, Brooke, when they received the devastating news from Shane’s manager, Andrew Neophitou.

Jackson clarified that there were originally two distinct phone conversations. The first call conveyed the news of Shane suffering a severe heart attack, while the second update informed the family that an effort to revive him was in progress.

90 minutes passed painfully as the podcaster and his family anxiously waited for another call from James Erskine, Shane’s manager, who eventually provided a new update.

‘It was just the worst hour and a half,’ Jackson said.

When the sad news finally came, Jackson said that he and his family all broke down in tears.

‘I found out at the same time as the rest of the world,’ Jackson said.

Immediately after ending my initial call, I started receiving messages from folks asking, “Is this not real?” implying that it had to be a hoax.

I couldn’t help but think, it can’t possibly be this that threatens him. In every fiber of my being, I believed Dad would pull through. This doubt was never absolute.

To me, he was like Superman – invincible. I never imagined anything could harm him. Yet, the recent turn of events came as a profound shock.

Shane died suddenly from a massive heart attack while on holiday in Thailand in March 2022.

The well-known cricketer, now commentator and entrepreneur, was discovered unresponsive at a villa located within the Koh Samui resort.

Thai police said that Warne was one of four friends staying in the villa.  

At approximately 5 PM on March 4th, one of the group members attempted to rouse Shane for food, however, they discovered that he was not responsive.

Warne’s manager, Neophitou, administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to the renowned cricketer for approximately 20 minutes in a bid to revive him, until an ambulance arrived on the scene.

He was then taken to the Thai International Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Recently, Jackson shared that his latest professional decision serves as a form of ‘healing process’ for him, assisting in dealing with the passing of his father.

Emerging celebrity in the media world recently debuted a fresh podcast titled “Warnes Way,” where he shares stories about honoring his father during filming.

Last week, Jackson shared with the Herald Sun that we have transformed an office previously belonging to his father into our workspace. This makes it feel as if he is still present with us.

‘We’ve got all his memorabilia, his book, his ashtray, it’s really special.’

In 2018, Jackson initially intended to collaborate with his father on a father-son podcast, however, the project unfortunately did not materialize.

With friends familiar with his father, like Eddie McGuire and Mark Howard, Jackson expresses that the podcast has been instrumental in helping him cope with his sorrow.

‘I’m also treating it as a bit of therapy for me,’ the professional poker player said.

I don’t consult a therapist, but when I converse with individuals such as Mark Howard and Eddie McGuire, our discussions often delve into very personal topics related to my father.
