Shakira’s sudden show cancellations are creating confusion
Originally scheduled to perform at Fenway Park on May 30, Shakira’s concert had to be called off because of problems with the stage structure. This wasn’t surprising since it appeared that the very same stage Shakira was planning to use was also intended for other artists performing there this summer.
Indeed, just like other events, the Jason Aldean and Brooks & Dunn concert scheduled at Fenway Park was unfortunately called off for the following day. Prioritizing the safety of the artists in Boston overheld the desire to stage a performance.
Instead of performing at the WorldPride concert in Washington, D.C., scheduled for May 31, Shakira has had to cancel due to logistical issues. It seems that her entire tour setup couldn’t be transported from Boston to DC quickly enough to stage the show on time. This appears rather puzzling.
Shakira forced to cancel second straight show as DC concert was canceled
1) The concerts in Boston and Washington D.C. were planned far in advance, so any issues with transporting Shakira’s production from one city to another would have been anticipated. If there was going to be a hitch regarding the DC concert, it would have been recognized earlier. Moreover, the connection between the Aldean concert appears insignificant compared to not having the Washington D.C. show altogether.
It appears there’s something unusual because the two tours are distinct from each other, which means their respective stages will also differ. If Shakira’s setup encountered issues in Boston, it might have been a challenge for her in DC as well. However, the absence of Aldean and Brooks & Dunn seems odd, given that they were scheduled to perform together.
On June 2nd, Shakira is scheduled to perform in Atlanta. Assuming everything goes smoothly, it would be an ordinary concert. However, if anything unexpected happens, it might be unusual and warrant some attention.
Following his performances in Atlanta, the Colombian star has only 13 concerts remaining in the U.S., then 15 more in Mexico, before wrapping up in Peru in November. It goes without saying that many disappointed fans would ensue if the tour ended prematurely. However, it’s possible that the potential shows in Washington D.C. and Boston are merely coincidental. Here’s hoping there aren’t bigger issues at play.
