In a fresh development of the escalating legal dispute between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, who starred together in ‘It Ends With Us’, there are allegations that Lively is using questionable, covert legal strategies, which Baldoni’s legal team describes as an “excessive use” or “misuse” of the legal system.
Based on The Daily Mail’s report, Lively’s legal team filed a mysterious lawsuit in New York under the company Vanzan Inc., on September 27, 2024. This filing coincided with rumors of a dispute between the actors swirling around. The lawsuit didn’t list any defendants and was written in ambiguous legal terms, enabling it to stealthily enter the court system undetected. Four days later, an attorney representing the actress served a subpoena on the former publicist of the “Con Man” star, Stephanie Jones, requiring her to hand over communications regarding Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and Baldoni, related to the “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

The information gathered through the subpoena has become pivotal in the unfolding of the case. In light of this turn of events, Bryan Freedman, legal representative of Justin Baldoni, was unambiguous when addressing the outlet, expressing:
It seems like this method bypasses the regular procedure, aiming to acquire these documents covertly without providing prior notification. Such a move would be considered an misuse of the process, and we are prepared to employ any legal means possible to prevent it.
According to court filings, it appears that the subpoena resulted in the handover of a collection of messages from the actor’s former publicist and her company Jonesworks. These messages reportedly contain texts exchanged among PR staff, seemingly organizing a smear campaign against the actress during promotions for the transition of the book “It Ends With Us” into a movie, while she was starring in “The Shallows”.
A notable example includes a communication where crisis public relations consultant Melissa Nathan is said to have written “We can conceal the truth about anyone,” and another hinting at a strategy to “discredit” or “damage” Lively’s reputation.
Three months after the shadow lawsuit was dismissed, on December 19th, I, as a movie enthusiast, found myself following the developments of The Town performer who submitted an official grievance to the California Civil Rights Department, alleging her costar of sexual harassment and retaliation. By New Year’s Eve, tensions between both stars had escalated significantly: Lively filed a federal lawsuit, while Baldoni countered with his defamation suit.
Moving on to Vanzan Inc., the company mentioned initially in this discreet lawsuit, it’s a Delaware-registered business with minimal public history, primarily two 2019 deliveries of household items sent to Lively’s New York home. Subsequent California corporate records revealed that Lively, under her married name Blake Reynolds, held the CEO position for this company. As of now, the industry in which Vanzan Inc. operates is recognized as entertainment.
During the time when Baldoni’s team brought forth a lawsuit, Esra Hudson, representing Lively, commented that “lawsuits involving anonymous parties (known as ‘Doe’ lawsuits) are frequently used and perfectly suitable legal methods.
Lawsuits are frequently used as effective means for bringing claims and exposing anonymous wrongdoers involved in illegal activities. This particular lawsuit revealed the secretive scheme of the Wayfarer group, as evidenced by their conversations – in their own language, through their text messages – to ‘eliminate’ Blake Lively. Their feigned indignation has nothing to do with legal integrity or law, aspects that are irrelevant here, and is solely due to the fact that they were caught red-handed doing something they claimed would be ‘untraceable.’
According to Blake Lively’s team, the initial court documents were routine, but Freedman and other legal professionals contend that the strategy employed circumvents fair legal process.
As we approach our court date, I can feel the complexity of this matter unfolding even further, with both parties making strategic moves. It’s becoming increasingly intricate and layered, demanding careful consideration.
