Sgt. Rock Scrapped at DC Studios, Story Details & Cast Revealed for DCU Movie
It appears that the tale of Easy Company’s men will no longer be part of the DC Universe narrative. The action war movie, which had been prepared for filming in England this summer, has been abandoned by DC Studios.
In the midst of finalizing the cast for Sgt. Rock, featuring Colin Farrell as the World War II soldier, Easy Company was about to complete its lineup, including a female character from the French resistance and a role within the DC Universe, when DC Studios abruptly halted the project. Although it’s unknown who might have been considered for the resistance fighter’s role, Mike Faist, star of Challengers, was reportedly slated to join the DC Universe, reteaming with director Luca Guadagnino.
Justin Kuritzkes, the author of “Challengers” and “Queer,” penned the screenplay for “Sgt. Rock,” a story set during World War II. In this tale, Sgt. Rock forms an alliance with a female French resistance fighter to locate the Spear of Destiny, an artifact used to pierce Jesus Christ during his crucifixion and rumored to possess extraordinary powers, before it falls into Nazi hands.
