Sex Pistols Make Shocking Comeback with New Lead Singer at Royal Albert Hall!

On Monday, The Sex Pistols launched a series of performances during the Teenage Cancer Trust’s week-long event at the Royal Albert Hall.

In the year 2025, the iconic London venue played host to the English punk rock group from the ’70s making a comeback, now fronted by Frank Carter, as they kicked off their first performance of the year.

Frank, aged 40, who leads both Gallows and Rattlesnakes, reunited with the founding members Glen Matlock, Paul Cook, and Steve Jones for a group photo session.

In its early days, the band’s founding members included lead vocalist John Lydon, also recognized as Johnny Rotten. Since their separation in 1978, there has been a persistent disagreement between him and the band.

Kicking off the week dedicated to Teenage Cancer Trust, the band is set to perform their iconic album “Never Mind the Bullocks”, introducing “The Sex Pistols”.

To start off the weeklong shows for Teenage Cancer Trust, The band will power through their influential album “Never Mind the Bollocks”, performing as “The Sex Pistols”.

They’ll additionally perform iconic punk songs like “Pretty Vacant,” “Anarchy in the UK,” and “God Save the (Queen/King)” as part of their setlist.

2024 marked the first performance of a band that included the lead vocalist from The Gallows. Upon seeing this show, Louder magazine commented, “It was pure exhilaration. They need to perform it across all regions. Long live their unique spectacle!

Recently, Steve Jones (former Sex Pistols guitarist) expressed his willingness to reconcile with his long-time bandmate John, whom he hadn’t spoken to in 17 years.

Musician Steve expressed that he is prepared to put past disagreements behind him with his former bandmate, mentioning that he has gained valuable insights on how to behave appropriately over the last few years.

As reported by The Sun, he expressed the possibility of reuniting with John in the future, stating that he holds no grudges against him.

Although we haven’t communicated since 2008, it’s important to note that I’ve maintained my sobriety for 34 years and gained valuable insights into proper behavior along the way. I prefer to avoid harboring grudges as they are detrimental to well-being.

In August, the team played two charity concerts in London that were completely sold out. These events took place prior to their UK tour, which began the next month. This tour apparently enraged John.

The pair last spoke at their last gig together at Spain’s Azkena Rock Festival in 2008.

On the Rockonteurs podcast, I shared that it’s been a long while since our conversation – the last time we talked was back in 2008. During those days, we managed to perform an impressive 30 shows across various cities in Europe together.

We attended several festivals, including some in Japan and Australia. Our final stop was Hammersmith Odeon, now known as Hammersmith Apollo, and after that, we performed one more show in the Basque Country. That concluded our tour.

The musician confessed, “I had had enough after that; I couldn’t do any more. It felt like too much, too outdated, and there was simply not enough accomplished.

This spring, the charity event taking place at the Royal Albert Hall will stretch from March 24th to the 30th. Joining the main act will be The Who, The Corrs, James Arthur, Erased Tapes, and a humorous evening led by Micky Flanagan.

Jamie Johnson, who is in charge of Music & Entertainment at Teenage Cancer Trust, expressed his excitement: “We’re delighted to have Erased Tapes perform during the Saturday slot at Royal Albert Hall. Their distinctive sound and talent promise an extraordinary event, one that music enthusiasts won’t want to skip.

It’s a great privilege for us that the renowned artist, Robert Smith, has consented to oversee the Teenage Cancer Trust’s concerts in 2026 at the Royal Albert Hall.

For quite some time now, Robert has been a loyal advocate for the Teenage Cancer Trust. His active participation is set to bring exceptional shows during this notable week, all while aiding us in gathering necessary funds. The money raised will enable us to persistently offer crucial specialized services to young cancer patients within the NHS.

As someone who values living a balanced lifestyle, I cannot stress enough the importance of cherishing your youth. Unfortunately, cancer can disrupt our lives in an instant, turning them upside down. In such challenging times, the right support becomes crucial to minimize the impact. It is with heartfelt gratitude that I express my appreciation to Robert for his unwavering dedication in ensuring no young individual ever faces their cancer battle alone.
