Sex Education Star Reveals She Felt ‘Exposed’ After Being Only One in Show’s Most Extreme Scenes

In an open discussion, Aimee Lou Wood admitted that during the filming of Sex Education‘s initial season, she experienced a sense of vulnerability due to feeling like she stood out as the only cast member heavily involved in the series’ most explicit sexual scenes.

In a recent chat with GQ Hype, the actress, age 31, revealed that the explicit scenes she filmed for “The White Lotus” stand in stark contrast to her rise to fame as Aimee Gibbs on the popular Netflix series.

On the front page of their newest issue, Aimee openly shared that she pushed boundaries for her provocative roles in Sex Education, stating she went “quite far” or “really over the top”.

In the case of filming comparable scenes for The White Lotus, she was portrayed as having multiple intimate moments with Walter Goggins, who played her love interest Rick Hatchett on screen.

For similar instances during the filming of The White Lotus, she was shown in numerous romantic scenes with Walter Goggins, who played her character’s boyfriend, Rick Hatchett.

At dinner with Michelle Monaghan and Carrie Coon, Aimee expressed that she became significantly more at ease performing those scenes after discussing with them the justification behind including nudity in their show characters.

She mentioned that she felt significantly improved because something she had long been troubled by in Sex Education, which she is only now recognizing, wasn’t about her actions, but rather the feeling of being alone in the situation.

In the initial season, none of the other primary characters took things as far as I did, which is why I believe I felt vulnerable or exposed.

In the hit TV show “The White Lotus,” Aimee played the role of Chelsea. The series reached its thrilling end in the third season on Sunday.

On the set of the show, the star openly acknowledged that she grappled with self-doubts during the production, following an encounter with a producer towards the end of the initial week of filming.

Aimee shared that someone told her about Mike’s [White] efforts on her behalf, stating “it had to be you, regardless of HBO’s decision.” She admitted that, despite the kindness behind it, her self-doubts led her to think, “HBO didn’t want me, and I know why – because I’m not attractive.” Mike then had to advocate for her, saying, “Give me the unattractive girl!

‘That was the thing that was in my head.’

Similar to her fellow actors, Aimee lived in Thailand for eight months during the filming of The White Lotus’s third season. Reflecting on her time on the set, she confessed that it made her appreciate the simplicity of her everyday life even more.

She mentioned: “I desire to spend the weekend. I wish to socialize with my friends. I long for a momentary escape from contemplating advancing my career, as I truly have no passion for furthering it at this point.

‘So it’s like, why is all my energy going towards something I don’t care about?’

Aimee confessed that although she felt more self-assured during her intimate scenes in The White Lotel, she found herself experiencing more self-doubt when donning a bikini on set.

She shared with Heat Magazine, “I’m still wrapping my head around everything I did during the first season of Sex Education, and I find myself wondering ‘How on earth did I manage that?’ I seem to have developed a bit more apprehension lately.

However, some productions employ intimacy coordinators, and in this case, Mike [White] made it clear that “you’re not required to participate in anything you’re uncomfortable with.

‘I found myself more anxious over wearing a bikini than acting in intimate scenes, as it’s harder for me to focus on the moment when I’m concerned about my appearance. This was the aspect that gave me the most trouble. It’s all about letting go and forgetting those worries, but that felt far more daunting to me.’

In the final episode of season three, Aimee and Walter played the roles of a traveling pair, enjoying their getaway at The White Lotus resort. However, their journey took a heartbreaking turn as they met with a fatal outcome, sadly losing their lives.

In a gunfight, Rick found himself against two associates following the death of Jim Hollinger – an unexpected discovery that revealed their connection as father and son.

At the resort, Chelsea was struck by gunfire during a shootout, and subsequently, as Rick transported her wounded body away from the scene, he himself was fatally shot by the resort’s security guard, Gaitok (Tayme Thapthimthong).
