Sex And The City fans spot another Easter egg in And Just Like That… season three premiere as familiar face returns – but did you recognise them?
Fans of Sex and the City have once again found an Easter Egg during the series’ third season, which they believe is a long-awaited improvement on the original.
Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes, and Charlotte York Goldenblatt returned to their usual charm as they delved into the intricacies of their interwoven lives within the bustling cityscape of New York.
Recently, Charlotte faced a challenging situation when her dog, Richard Burton, was alleged to have bitten an old woman’s Chihuahua in Central Park.
In a keen-eyed observation on Instagram, it was noted that the actress portraying the female character can also be seen in the 2008 Sex and the City film.
Previously, she held a dog to portray an animal rights advocate, and then accused Samantha Jones, played by Kim Cattrall, of being a murderer. This time, however, instead of her usual attire, Samantha was covered in red paint because she chose to wear fur.

On Instagram, they posted: ‘Fans who were particularly devoted to Sex and the City figured out that the person responsible for cancelling Richard Burton’s appearance was also the one shouting “murder” at Samantha in the initial Sex and the City movie.’
68-year-old Cattrall famously declined participation in the spin-off due to a disagreement with fellow cast member Parker. However, she made a surprising appearance as her renowned character in a single episode during the previous season.
Or:
Cattrall, 68, initially refused to join the spin-off because of a dispute with co-star Parker. But last season, she returned for a one-time appearance as her celebrated character after a surprising cameo.
In the first episode of the series, we learn that Samantha relocated to London. The start of Season 1 shows Carrie sending a text message to Samantha, planning to catch up with her in real life and mend their relationship.
As a devoted admirer, I’ve consistently expressed my unwillingness to revisit the role that captured hearts as the relentless publicist with an insatiable appetite for men – a part I last portrayed in the criticized 2010 movie, Sex and the City 2.
In a 2022 interview with Variety, Sarah Jessica Parker stated that she wouldn’t mind it if her feud with Kim Cattrall had miraculously resolved and Kim was able to rejoin the show, but as things stand now, she doesn’t seem to want Kim back.
In the premiere of the new season, called “Outlook Positive,” we find Carrie dealing with her long-distance romance with Aidan Shaw (played by John Corbett), while Miranda indulges in a flirtation with a novice nun named Mary (portrayed by Rosie O’Donnell).
In a nod to long-time Sex and the City fans, this episode incorporated many callbacks to the initial seasons.
During the broadcast, viewers on Twitter didn’t hesitate to draw parallels with the legendary ’90s series. Can you count the number of similarities you noticed?

Are postcards the new post its?
In the opening of this episode, I found myself tenderly crafting a postcard for Aidan, my dear one, who’s currently dealing with family issues and temporarily residing in Virginia.
As she looks at the card with affection, she doesn’t jot down any words but rather sketches a big heart instead.
Later on in the episode, it’s made clear that it’s an inside joke between them: Carrie sends postcards featuring New York City hearts, whereas Aidan sends empty ones from Virginia.
Yet, the impersonal communication triggered recollections of Carrie’s encounters with Jack Berger, who notoriously abandoned her during the dead of night, breaking up with her through a Post-it note that simply said: ‘I’m sorry. I can’t. Don’t blame me.’

Miranda’s night with the virgin Mary
In an unexpected storyline, Miranda found herself sleeping with a nun called Mary.
At a bar, the two women quickly connected. Mary then began to charm Miranda, complimenting her on her beauty by saying, “You are incredibly attractive,” and casually mentioning that she had a hotel room available.
On the morning following their intimate encounter, Mary disclosed that up until now, she had remained a virgin. The explanation behind this was that she was, in fact, a nun.
Viewers pointed out that the recent episode seemed reminiscent of season three, as it echoed the moment when Miranda found that her housekeeper, Magda (played by Lynn Cohen), had exchanged her personal item – a sex toy – with a statue of the Virgin Mary in her room.
It’s also not the first time a religious figure has been lusted over.
In the premiere of the fourth season, Samantha Jones (played by Kim Cattrall), became well-known for her admiration towards a handsome monk. She humorously nicknamed him “Friar Flirt” and made attempts to win his affections romantically.

A friend in need is a friend indeed
Carrie found herself in an awkward situation as she tumbled and couldn’t get up from the hardwood floor.
She wasted no time calling Miranda for help, admitting: ‘I’ve fallen and I can’t get up.’
Viewers recognized that the scene was reminiscent of season four, where Miranda strained her neck and became trapped in the shower.
In my role as a lifestyle guide, I found myself in a situation where I needed to call upon Carrie for some assistance. However, to my surprise, she delegated the task to someone else – Aiden. This unexpected move led him to an unusual predicament: he ended up having to help a rather embarrassed Miranda, who was in need of assistance after finding herself on her bathroom floor, well, unclothed. Quite an interesting turn of events!
As they watched And Just Like That…, an observer pointed out that Carrie’s quick phone call to Miranda after the fall was quite ironic.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I must acknowledge that she consistently demonstrates commitment to herself – a trait that truly deserves recognition. Regrettably, this wasn’t always reciprocated by Carrie during our past encounters. Nonetheless, moving forward, let’s emulate her current approach: #AndJustLikeThat.

A room with a view
The last scene of the initial episode showed Carrie sitting at her window, typing on her computer.
Even though she now lives in a different apartment from the initial show, the scene remained a nostalgic callback to all the moments of her typing at the window of her old, rent-controlled brownstone.
Spectators were overjoyed by the scene, posting on X: “The episode ended with Carrie typing on her laptop, gazing out the window. I’m sorry, but we’re definitely back! #AndJustLikeThat” (implying that they are excited to be watching the show again)

The season three opener came off the back of the significant shifts in season two.
Carrie stopped holding onto ‘hopes’ about her renewed love affair with Aidan, especially since he had indefinitely halted their relationship for five years to concentrate on bringing up his son, Wyatt.
In the most recent installment, Carrie initiates by mailing Aiden a card postmarked from Virginia, adorning it only with a hastily drawn heart.
Afterwards, she meets with Miranda and Charlotte at a bar.
She informs them that Aiden prefers not to engage in any conversations during this time as he deals with personal matters at home, yet they’ve been exchanging postcards instead.
Miranda asks Carrie if she’s sending him postcards to ‘remind him you’re getting old in New York.’
Carrie explains she is simply trying to ‘let him know I’m here, I love him.’
Later on, Carrie emphasizes to her friends that she leads a bustling life outside of Aiden, stating, “Being a woman in a metropolis with a large home to decorate, I have numerous responsibilities. There’s a lot on my plate as I sort things out here while he handles his affairs down there.

Carrie and Charlotte then leave Miranda, as they think she is being hit on by another woman.
Yet, upon meeting Miranda, Cassandra Walsh identifies herself as the previous babysitter of Miranda’s son, Brady.
Miranda then awkwardly tells her about her divorce from her ex Steve Brady (David Eigenberg).
Nicole Ari Parker and Sarita Choudhury returned as the group’s new besties Lisa and Seema.
In a unfortunate incident, Seema suffered an accident when she lit a cigarette in bed, which ignited both the mattress and her own hair. A firefighter later scolded her for smoking in bed.
In the park, Carrie sported an attention-grabbing hat as she and Seema leisurely walked together.
Afterward, Carrie arrives back home and, as she was rushing to deactivate her house alarm, she slipped and fell instead.
Miranda comes over to help her, and reveals her sexual encounter with Mary.
Later on, during the wee hours, Carrie receives a call from Aiden. He confesses his longing for her and mentions he’s parked at the rear of their home in his pickup truck, sipping beer.

After that, they engage in a phone conversation that turns into a virtual intimacy, however, it’s abruptly ended when he unintentionally blares the car horn using his knee.
After Aiden moved forward, Carrie found herself unable to do so, as she noticed her cat observing her instead. Despite this, Carrie pretended to continue, but later confided in her friends that she felt ‘untruthful’ about the situation.
Meanwhile Seema breaks up with boyfriend Ravi Gordy, after feeling ignored by him.
The setting changed to Miranda, who confides in Carrie that the nun has feelings for her, persistently messaging her to arrange a meeting.
Miranda admits feeling rather unkind due to not responding promptly to texts, yet she ultimately heads over to meet Mary at Times Square.
Mary then invites Miranda to ‘spend the night.’
Miranda tries to get out it, as Mary proceeds to sing a verse from Wicked to her.
Carrie calls Aiden later in the night, and tells her she faked their phone sex the night prior.
Afterwards, she tries to restart it, but he informs her that his child is napping beside him. Feeling mortified, she stammers an apology and ends the call.

After the house alarm sounds off once more, Carrie finds herself unable to fall asleep. Instead, she rises from bed and opens her computer, commencing to write.
In her writing, Carrie expressed puzzlement about the situation she found herself in, just as the event drew to a close.
11 years have flown by since the 2010 film “Sex and the City 2” wrapped up, but my obsession with these fabulous ladies remains unchanged! Now, I’m thrilled to join them once more as the story unfolds, focusing on three of the original four main characters.
After the well-received appearance of Kim Cattrall’s character in the second series, there have been many reports indicating that Samantha will make a comeback for a significant portion of the third season.
It appears that Sara Ramirez will not reprise her role as the complex, debated comedian Che Diaz. There seems to be differing opinions about whether this decision was influenced by their political posts, the conclusion of Che’s relationship with Miranda, or simply due to viewers finding the character irritating.
Karen Pittman is unable to reprise her role as Columbia law professor Nya Wallace due to scheduling issues.

Additionally, both Logan Marshall-Green from The OC and renowned actress Patti LuPone are set to feature in the upcoming TV show.
Starting from December 2021, the Sex And The City sequel series has tackled a range of contemporary issues such as sexuality, gender identity, loss, mourning, divorce, substance abuse, and virtually every trending social topic in Western culture, with Carrie, Samantha, and Charlotte at the forefront.
The original Sex and the City ran for six seasons, airing on HBO from 1998 until 2004.
The story continued with two feature films: Sex and the City (2008) and Sex and the City 2 (2010).
The first season of And Just Like That… premiered in 2021.
There will be 12 episodes in And Just Like That… season 3, with the last premiering on August 14.
In the opening episode of season 3, it proved challenging for Sarah to act out the scenes following her character’s emotional struggle with the portrayal of Mr. Big’s demise on the program.
The actress discussed the surprising scene in the series, which depicted Carrie’s spouse, Mr. Big (played by Chris Noth), passing away from a heart attack while using his Peloton bike during exercise.
As a devoted fan following the captivating world of Sex and the City, I can understand why the writers took a daring step when they decided to write off Mr. Big, a central figure and Carrie’s primary romantic interest.
Speaking on The E! News Sitdown with Bruce Bozzi, Sarah gave her thoughts on the storyline.
She mentioned that dealing with something very big and difficult – not only in her professional life but also on a personal level – was incredibly challenging. This wasn’t just an insignificant issue; it was a major challenge, one that she found it hard to navigate without significant effort.
I found it incredibly difficult to part ways with that. It wasn’t essential for my personal health or happiness, but it provided an exceptional narrative that I could share for many years to come.
After Big passed away, Carrie once again found herself drawn to her past love, Aidan, whom she had been romantically involved with during the third and fourth seasons of Sex and the City.
