Severance Spinoffs: Ben Stiller Reveals Two Ideas, and I Have Theories Too!

The tale of “Severance” is intriguing and significant, to be frank, I hadn’t anticipated it venturing beyond one of Apple TV+’s top-rated shows. Yet, following an exceptional Season 2 on the 2025 TV lineup, Ben Stiller has disclosed that there are “two distinct concepts” for potential spinoffs in store. Consequently, my brain has been churning with theories as to what these might entail.

What Ben Stiller Said About Severance’s Possible Spinoffs

There are numerous queries about the events in Season 3 of Severance. In an interview with Variety, Ben Stiller and Adam Scott remained evasive about these questions, which is reasonable. However, when asked if they envisioned the series becoming a franchise, surprisingly, the director hinted at this possibility.

Two particular concepts, which I’m not sharing with you at the moment, have been discussed among us as potential branches or offshoots of our current work.

frankly, I wasn’t expecting “Severance” to extend beyond its original series; but learning about potential spin-off concepts is exhilarating, especially since they’re still at their infancy or as Stiller described, merely “nascent.

Even though he wouldn’t share those concepts, once I discovered that some brainstormed possibilities were circulating among the upper echelons, I managed to generate two unique ideas of my own.

My Two ‘Specific’ Ideas For Potential For Severance Spinoffs

During the past two seasons of Severance on Apple TV+, I’ve found myself pondering about wanting to delve deeper into the intricacies of Lumon Industries. With its rich background and complexities, this company presents numerous opportunities for exploration, which serve as the foundation for my ideas for spin-offs.

1. A Prequel Series About Lumon’s Founding

Through different installments of the series Severance, it’s clear that the mythology surrounding Lumon and the enigmatic Kier family is quite extraordinary. Episodes such as “Woe’s Hollow” offer a mind-boggling glimpse into the origins of this corporation and the household where Helena was raised. Additionally, we understand that although Lumon appears to be a biotech company, it exhibits characteristics reminiscent of a cult, like the Waffle Party.

However, with every piece of knowledge we gain, I wind up with more questions.

Let’s delve into the origins of Lumon Corporation, uncovering the reason behind its establishment by the Keir family and understanding how they accumulated such an unusual amount of power and influence. This corporation has been passed down through generations, and both the family and certain employees hold their founder in an almost reverential manner. With such a rich history, there’s much to explore. Thus, we should consider creating a spinoff series that takes us back to the very beginning, shedding light on how this family managed to amass such eerie authority over time.

Since our initial encounter with the goats in the series “Severance,” my curiosity has been piqued, particularly regarding the department called Mammalians Nurturable. I’m eager to learn more about why Gwendoline Christie’s character, Lorne, seems so closely tied to these animals. I’m intrigued by the fact that their office appears as rolling green hills under fluorescent lights. Additionally, I’m still trying to understand what role the goats play in this setting.

It’s possible that another series, distinct from Severance, centered around this department, would be fascinating and delightful for me.

In addition to series focusing on Choreography and Celebration (or Optics and Aesthetics), I’m drawn to shows that delve into the intricate and enigmatic aspects of Severance. Such unique departments could benefit from their own narratives, and this could be achieved through a spin-off series.

In summary, I firmly believe that the universe of “Severance” offers enough material for not one, but two potential spinoffs, and these concepts sound intriguing. Nonetheless, I’m confident that whatever plans Ben Stiller and his team have brewing are superior, so let’s keep our fingers crossed that we’ll eventually get a glimpse into their unique ideas, which could transform into future Apple TV+ productions.
