Seven News reporter storms off the job after an explosive argument with her cameraman in shocking leaked video

A heated argument between two people working for Channel Seven News has become public after a video of the dispute was released. The incident is now receiving widespread media attention.

Two weeks ago, a disagreement between Seven News reporter Inga Neilsen and her cameraman, Finn Hawkins, led to Inga abruptly leaving a media conference. The incident was captured on video.

According to witnesses, the journalist verbally attacked Hawkins, using highly offensive language including expletives, and told him to leave before storming off.

The fiery exchange occurred in front of other members of the media in Lake Cargelligo, NSW.

Nielsen and Hawkins were reporting on the search for Julian Ingram, who is wanted for the murders of his former girlfriend, Sophie Quinn, her aunt Nerida Quinn, and Sophie’s boyfriend, John Harris. They had been in the area covering the manhunt for several days.

A video obtained by The Australian shows reporters gathered outside the small town’s police station as a tense argument unfolded.

At one point, a voice – presumably from someone off-camera – says, ‘Finn, could you please stop being so rude?’

Just moments later, Neilson angrily tossed her water bottle to the ground and told her cameraman to leave as she walked away before the planned press conference.

According to The Australian, the pair had been known to ‘get along’ and had worked together often.

The two reporters started to clash when they were forced to share a room while working on the Ingram case.

According to the report, Seven offered the reporters nicer lodging in Griffith, which is 135 kilometers away, but they preferred to remain near the location of the news story.

Their relationship apparently deteriorated after Hawkins informed Nielsen about a competing news team.

When Nielsen verified the story with people at the network, she discovered her source was Hawkins. He said she had been persistently asking him for information, which he referred to as being ‘dogged’ – a casual way of saying she had been well-informed.

Nielsen reported to her managers that her cameraman had insulted her by calling her a ‘dog’ and requested a different cameraman for the assignment.

The situation escalated during the media event at Lake Cargelligo when Hawkins proposed that Neilsen postpone her return flight to Sydney for three hours.

According to a recording of their argument, Hawkins told her it was okay to just wait at the airport.

Neilson snapped, ‘Finn, please stop acting like that, or I’m leaving.’ He continued, ‘I honestly don’t understand why you’re being so awful.’

She then stormed off, telling him: ‘F*** you.’

Reporter Briana Jackson took over the Ingram story.

A Channel Seven representative said the network doesn’t discuss details about its employees with the media.

Nielsen joined Seven News in March 2025, having previously worked as a reporter for Channel Nine in Adelaide for nearly three years.
