Seth Rogen reveals the one audition tape that will ‘end his career’ if it is ever released after reading script for notorious 2003 flop

Seth Rogen thinks that his current acting career could have taken a different course if one of his old audition videos were ever made public.

During the 2000s, the actor gained widespread recognition by appearing in several provocative comedy films, including Superbad, Knocked Up, and The 40-Year-Old Virgin.

However, Rogen thinks that an old audition video of his might lead to his being “cancelled” if it’s rediscovered and watched by a newer generation of fans, given that he was not yet established in Hollywood at the time.

On Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the 43-year-old Canadian actor disclosed that he tried out for the part of Brian in the infamous 2003 bomb, Gigli – an unpopular romantic comedy featuring Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck that didn’t fare well.

He remembered: “It’s fortunate that mostly physical VHS tapes and similar items were in use during my auditions.

Looking back, if the roles I auditioned for existed and gained popularity, they could have quickly ended my acting career, I suspect.

He stated: ‘I tried out for the role of a boy with a cognitive impairment. In my opinion, the character wasn’t depicted in a manner that would meet current standards of sensitivity towards individuals with such disabilities.’

Rogen eagerly took on the role as he didn’t have many acting opportunities at the time and was a budding actor with big dreams. However, he confessed that he felt too embarrassed to recreate the scene in front of Kimmel’s live audience.

I’m so drawn to attempting an imitation of what transpired, but I’m simply incapable, such is the level of difficulty.” This just about encapsulates how dire the situation was. To be honest, if that recording were publicized today, this would likely be the final video you’d see from me – except for my apology videos, of course.

‘Please, if you have it, burn it. Please sell it to me. I will buy it.’

Ultimately, the part was given to Justin Bartha, but it turned out to be a close call for Rogan, as the movie was withdrawn from American theaters only three weeks in due to poor ticket sales and negative criticisms.

I can’t contain my excitement! After all, who wouldn’t be thrilled when their jokes about the U.S. President, Mr. Donald Trump, were initially included in the broadcast of the world’s most esteemed science award show? But alas, my humor didn’t quite align with the event’s standards this time around. However, the organizers have now graciously extended an invitation for me to grace their stage again – this time, without any edits or censorship! I can hardly wait to share a laugh with the brilliant minds gathering there and continue my pursuit of making science just a little bit more entertaining.

During the Breakthrough Prize ceremony in April, the actor and writer known for Pineapple Express had the honor of presenting an award. This well-financed event is designed to acknowledge remarkable scientific accomplishments.

The award ceremony, often referred to as the “science Oscars,” was established by several prominent figures in the technology industry, among them being Google co-creator Sergey Brin and Meta’s chief executive officer, Mark Zuckerberg.

According to reports, Seth Rogen is said to have made some witty, critical remarks about the U.S. president while sharing a stage with actor Edward Norton to award a prestigious prize in fundamental physics to Gerardus ‘t Hooft.

The Hollywood Reporter states that he spoke to an audience consisting of Brin, Zuckerberg, Bezos from Amazon, and Altman as CEO of OpenAI. He remarked: ‘It’s astounding that those present here helped elect a person who, in just a week, dismantled the entirety of American science single-handedly.’

He added: ‘It’s amazing how much good science you can destroy with $320m and RFK Jr, very fast.’

But the jokes were not included in the ‘full’ YouTube upload of the ceremony.

According to Breakthrough, this year’s event went on for a bit longer compared to recent years. Some adjustments were necessary to ensure that it concluded within the previously scheduled duration.

Rogen’s joke seemed to be a critique of how rapidly Silicon Valley leaders embraced Trump following his election as President.

After his election, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, and Peter Thiel collectively donated three million dollars (around £2.28 million each) to the committee overseeing Donald Trump’s inauguration.
