Serial stage invader who stormed Katy Perry’s Sydney show reveals how he gets past security – despite being banned from the venue

Johnson Wen, the notorious serial stage-crasher, has disclosed accounts of his embarrassing actions that occurred during Katy Perry’s performance in Sydney on Sunday.

After pulling off an exciting stunt that involved breaking security protocols to gain attention, the die-hard fan was taken into custody, sharing the spotlight unexpectedly with the startled American singer.

During her LifeTime’s World Tour stop in Australia, at Qudos Bank Arena, Katy was singing her popular track “Hot n Cold,” when unexpectedly, Wen managed to push through the audience and sprinted towards her on stage.

During an interview on Nine on Tuesday, following the event, Wen stated that he had been barred from the venue in the past, yet, due to a friend providing him with a ticket, he was able to attend.

He also revealed that he had tried to persuade Perry to let him ‘perform’.

He explained that he had suggested joining her on stage, but she became surprised when she realized he wasn’t a performer,” he said.

Asked how he managed to get by security when he pulled his stunt, Wen joked that he used ‘magic’.

‘Just kidding,’ he added, ‘I’m just too quick.’

The accompanying video depicted Wen sprinting swiftly beyond security, outpacing them, and then bounding onto the stage while guards attempted to apprehend him.

At Monday’s show, Perry seemed troubled and unhappy as Wen made his way onto the stage, but she carried on with the performance for a short while before speaking to the audience.

‘There’s never going to be another show like this, so just enjoy it,’ she said into the microphone.

Security promptly moved onto the stage to intervene when Wen, full of energy, tried to hug the pop star while dancing together, and they managed to subdue him.

Wen was removed – with some fans at the show claiming he was then ejected from the arena.

As a devoted admirer, I can tell you that some people in the audience commended Katy for her ‘skilled’ reaction. In the heat of the moment, she addressed the crowd, acknowledging that it had been an ‘exciting twenty minutes’ before continuing with the performance as planned.

Referred to as a persistent gate-crasher, it’s been reported that Wen has previously disrupted occasions such as the Paris Olympics and the FIFA World Cup. Allegedly, he has accumulated fines totaling $20,000 due to his unruly behavior.

On Tuesday, during his appearance, Wen admitted that he had considered leaving for good, stating that the amount of trouble one can get into becomes overwhelming.

On Sunday, it was confirmed that the dedicated supporter was apprehended following the event and escorted to Auburn police headquarters for questioning.

He faced accusations for two infractions at that point: trespassing on restricted property and hindering someone while they were carrying out their tasks or responsibilities.

Wen, was granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Burwood Local Court on June 23.

Additionally, he received a six-month ban preventing him from accessing the Sydney Olympic Park Precinct.

Previously, Wen had performed before, even experiencing an interruption during The Weeknd’s concert in Melbourne the year prior, when a rowdy spectator invaded the stage as well.

In addition, he also conversed with 7News previously about his stunts, confessing that he had meticulously planned his appearance for several months.

He commented, “There were far too many security personnel; it seemed almost impassable to make my way through.

I stumbled upon a narrow opening in my area, and as soon as I got myself prepared, I swiftly dashed through that gap and leaped upward.

He added: ‘I was extremely happy and as soon as I got to The Weeknd I knew that my plan worked.’

It was verified on Tuesday that the individual known as Wen, who identifies himself as ‘troll most hated’ in his Instagram bio, indeed has a history of making unauthorized public appearances.

In the year 2020, he was penalized with a $250 fee for hanging off a bridge in Brisbane, and during a 2021 rugby union game, he received another penalty of $220 for invading the pitch.

Last year, in 2020, he was fined $250 for hanging from a bridge in Brisbane, while in a 2021 rugby union match, he was fined $220 for running onto the field.
