Serena Williams showed off her fit physique, now measuring around 5’9″, while wearing lingerie-style clothing at the NikeSKIMS launch event in Midtown Manhattan on Wednesday.
The former tennis star, age 43, showed off her significant weight loss while wearing an animal-print coat over black leggings, completed with a matching blazer and heels chosen by her stylist, Kesha McLeod.
Serena recently revealed she lost 31 pounds over eight months using Zepbound, a popular weight loss medication. She was able to access the drug through her new position as an investor and spokesperson for the telehealth company, Ro.
Williams explained to Vogue that many people unfairly criticize GLP-1 medications, often calling them a shortcut for those unwilling to put in the effort, or suggesting that dedication to hard work makes them unnecessary.
From my own experience, I can say it’s perfectly alright to ask for help when you need it. Everyone’s journey is unique, and you should feel comfortable making the choices that are right for you. I personally did, and I’m very glad I did.
The four-time Olympic gold medalist explained that she was dedicated to her training. She believes many women experience the frustration of working hard at the gym and eating well, but still not reaching their desired fitness level. She added that she now feels mentally free, more attractive, and more self-assured.
Currently, the FDA has approved only three medications – Wegovy (semaglutide), Saxenda (liraglutide), and Zepbound (tirzepatide) – specifically to treat weight loss. Other similar drugs are approved only for people with type 2 diabetes.
Many well-known figures, such as Oprah Winfrey, Kathy Bates, Kelly Clarkson, Whoopi Goldberg, Meghan Trainor, Elon Musk, Rebel Wilson, Chelsea Handler, Amy Schumer, Sharon Osbourne, and Tori Spelling, have publicly shared that they’ve used medications originally intended for people with diabetes.
While some celebrities have publicly acknowledged using Ozempic for weight loss, many others – like Selena Gomez, Mindy Kaling, Melissa McCarthy, Khloé Kardashian, Demi Lovato, Lana Del Rey, Christina Aguilera, and Ricki Lake – have lost weight without commenting on whether they’ve used the drug.

Inside the studio, Serena Williams, with over 39.6 million followers on social media, was amazed by the huge poster of her from the NikeSKIMS ad campaign.
In the ad, the 12-time ESPY Award winner said Nike helped her feel confident and SKIMS provided the perfect fit, creating a powerful combination.

Serena and her husband, Alexis Ohanian Sr., will celebrate eight years of marriage on November 16th. He stands 6 feet 5 inches tall.
