Composer Michael Giacchino revealed at a recent event that he’s working on a sequel to his 2022 Marvel Studios special, Werewolf by Night. He encouraged viewers who haven’t seen it to check it out on Disney+, and confirmed that he’ll be returning to direct for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The first ‘Werewolf by Night’ special was filmed in 2022 and released on Disney+ for Halloween. Considering this, work on a sequel could start shortly, with a possible release around Halloween 2026. Director Michael Giacchino shared that directing was something he’d always wanted to do, explaining that composing music is often a solitary job and he enjoyed collaborating with a team again.

During a recent discussion, composer Michael Giacchino shared that he completely reworked the music for Fantastic Four: First Steps. He explained that after initially composing a full score, he felt it didn’t quite fit the film after seeing an early cut. He had actually begun writing the music even before filming started, creating themes for characters like Galactus and the Silver Surfer early in the process.

Michael Giacchino’s recent statements highlight his close working relationship with Marvel Studios. He revealed that Kevin Feige specifically asked him to create music for the Fantastic Four announcement at Comic-Con, and that initial work ultimately led to him composing the full score for the movie.

After that, his next directing job further established him as a key creative force within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, both in theaters and on streaming platforms.
