September feels like a really important month to me. It’s not just the start of fall and cooler weather, but it also marks a big step towards NIKKE’s 3rd anniversary! In this update, I want to share what we’re improving in September and give you a sneak peek at some exciting things coming in October.
September 24 Optimizations
We’ve been releasing developer updates frequently, which has led to some repeated information. However, with significant improvements planned for release by the end of September, I think a summary is helpful. I’ll keep reminders about previously discussed topics brief for easy reference.
Tribe Towers Auto Challenge Feature
Tribe Towers is a key way to develop your Nikkes, but repeatedly entering each floor could be tiring. This update lets you automatically move to the next floor after completing one, making growth smoother and progression more continuous.
Simulation Room Display Improvements & Relaxed Chain Conditions
The Buff Chain System was created to let players have fun trying out different buff combinations. However, it sometimes made it difficult for players to improve because it required collecting repetitive buffs. This update makes the system easier to use by reducing the requirements for activation and improving the way buffs are displayed. You’ll now be able to easily see how much combat power each buff provides and what effects they have, making it simpler to build effective strategies.
Synchro Device Improvements
Synchro Device is essential for managing your Nikkes, but we know it’s been frustrating due to limited slots and a complicated process. To fix this, we’re increasing the default number of slots to 25, removing the cooldown time, and adding a feature that automatically assigns Nikkes. We’re also introducing easier upgrade options and free level resets. These improvements will make managing your Nikkes much simpler, so you can build a stronger team without the hassle.
Weapon Tutorials Enhancement
Knowing what each Nikke weapon does isn’t just about the numbers. We’ve made it easier to understand how each weapon plays with descriptions and videos explaining their core combat style. While the in-game tutorial only covers the basics, we hope this helps both new and returning players get used to them quickly.
New Molds
We know it’s frustrating when you use a lot of Molds without getting the SSR Nikke you want. To fix this, we’re adding new, guaranteed SSR Nikke Molds: High-Quality Access Records, Perfect Molds, and Manufacturer’s Perfect Molds. You’ll find these replacing some existing rewards in the game, and we’re also adding them as extra rewards in Manufacturer Tribe Towers. Our goal is to make recruiting SSR Nikkes more reliable and enjoyable.
Coordinated Operation Weakness Element Display Optimization
When playing Coordinated Operation battles with multiple commanders, the strategy phase starts right after matchmaking. This update lets players see which Nikkes with specific weakness codes have already been chosen, making team preparation much simpler.
Collectible Items Lock Feature
Certain in-game items are more than just currency – they represent special memories. We’ve noticed some players accidentally use these valuable items, so we’re adding a locking feature. Now you can protect important items and preserve those meaningful moments.
Nikke Expression List
Nikke characters are very expressive, and their faces tell a lot about what they’re feeling. Previously, you’d only see these expressions while playing through the story. Now, with this update, you can easily see all the expressions you’ve unlocked directly on each Nikke’s profile page.
It might not seem like much, but we think finding all of your favorite Nikke expressions will help you connect with them even more. We hope discovering these little details brings you some extra happiness.
Union Shooting Range – Collection Item Effects with Scope Lock
The Union Shooting Range isn’t just about hitting targets; it’s a place to test your strategy. But currently, when you use the Scope Lock feature, you don’t get the benefits from collected items, which doesn’t accurately reflect how the game plays in real combat.
This update makes sure changes from Collection Items work even with Scope Lock turned on. This allows players to try out different setups in battles that feel more like real combat. We believe this will be especially helpful for players who like to research and experiment with different strategies.
Adjustment of Boss Difficulty in Campaign Chapter 21
We’re making Mother Whale, the boss in Campaign Chapter 21 Normal Mode, easier to defeat. We designed boss battles to be challenging and help players test their team combinations, but we found that Mother Whale was too difficult and interrupted the normal game experience. This change will make progressing through the campaign smoother and more fun.
Side Story Update
I’m so excited! A new side story called EDEN SPEAR is coming out on October 16th. It’s all about Eden, and honestly, even though it’s a side story, I have a feeling it’s really important. People are saying it might tie into the big 3rd anniversary event or even the main story, so definitely don’t skip it!
This story will feature the return of several beloved characters we haven’t seen in a while. We hope these reunions will delight readers and hint at exciting things to come in the future.
We believe you’ll find EDEN SPEAR a rewarding read, even though it’s a short story. We hope you’ll connect with the characters and the emotions within its pages, and that it brings forgotten thoughts to the forefront. We truly hope you enjoy it!
Rapi: Red Hood Free Costume
Starting October 16, the highest-voted costume of Rapi: Red Hood will be distributed for free.
Similar to last year, we’ve created a special song, music video, and a short story to go with the costume.
The recent popularity poll and costume contest were incredibly close and surprising – I vividly remember watching the results with a lot of anticipation. Because of this, every Commander’s selection feels significant, and it’s made Rapi’s costume even more meaningful.
We’re thrilled to finally share a fresh new look for Rapi, who’s been with us for a long time! We believe this music video and song are our best yet for a fan-voted costume, and we’re really excited to get your feedback. This costume isn’t just a prize; it’s a special way to celebrate all the time we’ve spent with Rapi. We’re committed to making this the best it can be before we release it.
UNBREAKABLE SPHERE in the Archives
Get ready! The UNBREAKABLE SPHERE event and BUBBLE MARCH mini-game are returning soon to celebrate the 2.5-year anniversary.
Starting October 16th, you’ll be able to play UNBREAKABLE SPHERE in the Archives and BUBBLE MARCH in the Arcade! We know many of you loved these events, and we’re excited to bring them back so you can relive those memories and have some fun.
Pilgrims Pick Up Rerun in October
Last year, we added the Pilgrim Wishlist to Ordinary Recruit to help you get the Pilgrims you want. Because Pilgrims represent Nikkes and success, we’ve been looking for even more ways for players to acquire them.
We’re excited to announce that Pick Up Recruitment will return for Modernia, Dorothy, and Red Hood in our late October 3rd anniversary update. Because Pilgrims are already available through wishlists and new Molds, we chose to bring back characters who were among the first released.
We’ll share details about the 3rd anniversary update in a separate announcement. However, because this is the first time we’re re-running the Pilgrim event outside of the New Year, we wanted to give you advance notice so you can get ready. We hope you’re excited, Commanders, and look forward to recruiting and developing the Pilgrims we mentioned!
October Update
I mentioned earlier this year that I was excited about the upcoming story event celebrating our 3rd anniversary. It’s a story I’ve been wanting to share for a long time, and I can’t wait to finally release it.
We’re making good progress on the main story and content updates for the 3rd anniversary! I’d like to share more details soon, but I’ll save the specifics of the October update for a future announcement. Be sure to watch the upcoming 3rd anniversary special program for more information.
Lastly
I have one final update. We’re actively looking at solutions for some recent problems with the game. We’re also working to respond to issues more quickly, and we’ll be discussing these improvements – including plans to optimize the game and other areas – during our 3rd anniversary broadcast. The developers will share these updates directly.
Because these topics are important, we’ve decided to discuss them in detail in our 3rd anniversary developer video, where we’ll also share our plans for making improvements. We won’t be covering them in this Developer’s Note, and we appreciate your understanding.
