Send UK’s Hottest Hun to SPACE!

Richard Branson jokingly stated his intention to launch the United Kingdom’s inaugural space voyage for women, scheduled by Virgin Galactic on Tuesday.

74-year-old British tycoon received an invitation from BBC Radio 1 DJ Greg James to arrange for popular British figures to go to space, following the successful launch of a rocket by Blue Origin earlier this week.

As a dedicated follower, I’d like to share that among the Americans selected for the space voyage were singer Katy Perry, Lauren Sanchez, Jeff Bezos’ partner, CBS co-host Gayle King, filmmaker Kieranne Flynn, NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, and civil rights champion Amanda Nguyen.

Currently, Greg has arranged for Alison Hammond from This Morning, Denise Welch of Loose Women, Gemma Collins known from TOWIE, Natalie Cassidy the actress, and Carol Vorderman of Countdown to experience a space launch, all orchestrated by Richard’s company.

On his Instagram Story, Richard reshared Greg’s concept, expressing his readiness to initiate the project named ‘Astronaut 00Hun’.

‘Dear Greg_James, I am Astronaut Number 1 at Virgin Galactic. It’s now time to meet Astronaut Number 00H, Virgin Galactic!’

Or, using more conversational language:

He said, “Hey Greg_james, that’s me, Astronaut 001 of Virgin Galactic! Now it’s time for you to meet our next astronaut, number 00H!

After connecting with Greg on social platforms, he privately messaged Richard: “Dear Mr. Richard Branson, I appreciate you as a follower. Delighted to see your interest in Air Force One. Cheers for your excitement!

‘You and I have a lot of shared passions. Music, trains, planes and mad but successful ideas…

It seems your ambitious projects for the year 2026 are underway with testing right now. Could we possibly arrange for the Huns to be part of these flights? Given their unwavering dedication, they could easily surpass Katy Perry’s two-day training record. Shall we work towards making this a reality?

‘Chat soon, it could be one small step for man, one giant leap for hun-kind. Greg x’.

To Greg’s astonishment, Richard swiftly responded and expressed his willingness to participate in an astronaut-like adventure with us.

Let’s kick off our ambitious journey towards humanity’s future by offering an Astronaut Experience to everyone. Meanwhile, we’ll keep striving to touch the skies ourselves.

On Wednesday, Greg’s breakfast show saw the addition of Gemma, who admitted to not having much sleep due to the recent news and humorously mentioned that she was anticipating numerous endorsement offers.

She mentioned that she hardly got any sleep the previous night, as she was anticipating a call from Richard. She found it hard to come up with a better option.

‘This is a brand money making deal coming but just remember I’m claustrophobic.’

Later, Greg appeared alongside Alison on This Morning during her hosting stint with Dermot O’Leary. During their conversation, she confessed that she feels somewhat anxious with Richard now part of the picture.

She mentioned that her initial statement might have been a joke, but when the conversation becomes more serious, she admits to feeling somewhat apprehensive, as if Sir Richard Branson genuinely intends to carry out his plan.

Let’s opt for going out together at night with everyone else, instead. I believe Carol would enjoy this, and while I can’t say for sure, I think Gemma might be hesitant or nervous about it initially.

In another place, Denise playfully mentioned that she would be traveling with just carry-on baggage. Meanwhile, Carol exclaimed her fondness by saying, ‘I adore this so much.’

It was recently disclosed that Richard’s ambition to start frequent space travel for commercial purposes is nearing realization, as Virgin Galactic declared plans to boost the manufacture of their newest spacecraft.

The company’s Delta SpaceShip project is set to commence work at a site in Phoenix, Arizona. It’s anticipated that trial flights will occur during the spring of 2026, followed by the initiation of public journeys the following summer.

The upcoming automobiles will be constructed to comfortably seat six fare-paying individuals, an increase of two compared to the former spacecraft that last took flight in June 2024. This hiatus has led to a buildup of 700 pre-booked passengers waiting for these flights.

Established in 2004, Virgin Galactic’s promotional statement exudes pride as it proclaims the company to be ushering in a fresh era of space travel, inviting everyone to join this exciting journey.

Experiencing the wonders of outer space doesn’t come without cost – it’s been estimated that tickets for space travel departing from Spaceport America in New Mexico will be approximately $600,000 (£477,000) per person.

The journey to the stars isn’t free; space tours taking off from Spaceport America in New Mexico are predicted to cost around $600,000 (£477,000) per traveler.

Even with its high cost, leaders at Virgin Galactic, who aim to build around six Delta-class vessels each year, remain optimistic that they can clear their customer waiting list within a year after resuming operations.

According to Michael Colglazier, CEO of the company, the schedule for building and deploying the new ships is proceeding as planned. We anticipate our inaugural commercial research space flight in the summer of 2026, and our first private astronaut space flight in the fall of 2026.

With clear visibility into the delivery dates for each tool and component, we can provide more precise timelines for the completion of the project.

By the start of 2027, the company aims to operate twice-weekly flights, which is about two decades behind their initial expectations, as they work towards increasing their financial resources after encountering multiple setbacks in the past.

In 2007, an explosion during a rocket propulsion system test claimed the lives of three workers, while a tragic accident during a spacecraft test flight in 2014 resulted in the loss of a pilot’s life.

Despite encountering obstacles, other affluent businesspeople like Jeff Bezos, the creator of Amazon, and Elon Musk, who leads both Tesla and SpaceX, continue to pursue their goals in the realm of space tourism.

Elon Musk has experienced promising outcomes from test journeys of his Starship, the largest and most potent spacecraft ever constructed thus far. Meanwhile, Blue Origin, a rocket company founded by Jeff Bezos in 2000, is said to be planning to reduce approximately 1,400 jobs as they strive to narrow the gap with their competitors.
