Selma Blair recently gave an update on her life with multiple sclerosis, seven years after her diagnosis with the autoimmune disease.
The 53-year-old Grammy nominee, who first experienced symptoms at age seven, shared with People magazine at an ELLE event on Monday that she has been in recovery for a couple of years.
‘I’m getting my stamina back all the time and traveling around and doing collaborations.’
Blair, whose maiden name is Beitner, shared that her greatest happiness comes from her 14-year-old son, Arthur Saint Bleick, adding with a laugh that she hopes he feels the same way about her.
In September, the ‘Cruel Intentions’ actress told the publication she was incredibly impressed by Arthur’s courage, adding that he’s also been a supportive caregiver when she’s needed him.
Blair and her former partner, Jason Bleick, dated for two years and had one child together before their relationship ended in 2012.

It’s been incredible to watch Selma Blair’s journey. Seeing her thrive now is so inspiring, especially knowing everything she’s overcome. Back in 2019, she went through chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, and she bravely documented the whole experience for her Discovery+ documentary, Introducing, Selma Blair. It really showed her strength and vulnerability, and I’ve been a devoted follower ever since.
This September, Blair received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the CineHealth Film Festival and an Advocate Award from the American Brain Foundation.
The actress, originally from Michigan, is returning to acting in the film Stay Forte. She plays an American hostage, a role inspired by Amit Soussana, in this drama about the Israel-Hamas war. The movie will be released in US cinemas next March.
In a statement to Variety in January, Blair described the film as more than just a story, saying it powerfully demonstrates the strength of people and how we come together during incredibly difficult times.
I’m proud to be involved in this important effort, which highlights the diversity of Israeli society – people from all faiths who are unfortunately affected by ongoing conflict.
Last year, the horse enthusiast received significant criticism after she called for the removal of Congresswomen Rashida Tlaib and Cori Bush, labeling them ‘terrorist supporters’ due to their advocacy for Palestinians.
In a comment that has since been removed from Instagram, Tony Blair stated that Islam has harmed nations with Muslim majorities and is now negatively influencing people here.
‘They know they are liars. Twisted justifications. May they meet their fate.’
Eleven days after the initial controversy, the Jewish actress publicly apologized for mistakenly linking Muslims to extremist groups and sincerely expressed her regret for the pain she caused many people.

In addition to his current roles, Blair will soon appear in two new films: the supernatural thriller Silent, directed by Doron Eran and Yoaz Paz, and There There, a drama focusing on twins from the Polish Brothers.
The University of Michigan alumna hasn’t appeared in any acting roles since playing the mother of Tessa Young (Josephine Langford) in the 2020 romantic drama After We Collided, which received largely negative reviews.
Blair earns money through sponsored content, partnering with brands and resorts such as Calamigos Guest Ranch & Beach Club, as well as companies like Mavenclad, ESK Skincare, and Benny’s Eyewear.
