Selma Blair, 52, channels Hollywood blonde bombshell Marilyn Monroe while in MS remission
As a dedicated follower who has walked this journey alongside Selma Blair for some time now, I must say that her resilience and determination are truly inspiring. From playing the Hollywood blonde bombshell on the big screen to bravely battling multiple sclerosis off it, she continues to captivate us with her strength and grace.
Selma Blair played the part of a Hollywood blonde bombshell on Tuesday.
At the Elle Women event held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, the actress from Cruel Intentions bore a striking resemblance to Marilyn Monroe from Some Like It Hot.
She had a white-blonde hairdo and wore an elegant, off-the-shoulder ivory satin gown with a fitted waistline and hemline stopping just above her knees.
The 52-year-old leggy lady added black sling-back heels with a pearl and rhinestones on top.
The cover girl seems to be winning her cruel MS battle these days as she has been in remission.
Also at the splashy event were Demi Moore, Selena Gomez, Eva Longoria and Melanie Griffith.
Blair is ‘still in remission’ for her MS.
The actress was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018.
She underwent a risky two-month process called a hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), aiming to rejuvenate her immune system. She’s currently doing well, even after a recent setback or recurrence.
In her interview with UsWeekly, she shared: “Hello! Many folks have inquired about why I’m doing so well recently and my movements seem changed. Truth be told, I couldn’t be more thrilled.
As a survivor who has undergone a bone marrow transplant, I’d like to share my personal journey. Initially, I was overjoyed to announce that I had entered remission. However, following this joyous period, I unfortunately experienced a significant setback – a major relapse. Yet, despite this obstacle, I’m currently feeling fantastic and grateful for every moment of health.
The star further clarified that an MRI had revealed bright spots, indicating ‘new growths’, which necessitated her seeking out a different physician.
But she felt lucky to have found a ‘great one’ who put her on an ‘amazing’ journey with medication.
That has improved her speech and movement.
She added: ‘Thank God I found a great one here in West Hollywood, Dr. Berkovich. ‘It was just tablets. So I took that, a couple short series of tablets, and in two years your therapy is done. It’s called Mavenclad. It’s been amazing and it helped my movement and speech so much, and it’s allowed me to have a great summer, great years. I need you all to know. Bye.’
The actress famed for ‘Legally Blonde’ expressed satisfaction about revealing her neurological disorder – a condition impacting the brain and resulting in symptoms like visual difficulties, impaired movement of arms or legs, altered sensation, or issues with balance – as it resonates with Christina Applegate and Jamie-Lynn Sigler who have shared their battles with this disease on the Messy podcast.
She said: ‘They’re being really open about their experiences. I love that they’re doing that. They’re both good friends of mine. I love listening to them hang out and discover.’
