Selling Sunset viewers were surprised on Friday to learn that Chrishell Stause is leaving the popular Netflix show after appearing in nine seasons.
However, producers aren’t wasting any time finding a replacement for the 44-year-old.
Sources at the Daily Mail reveal that show producers had begun searching for new celebrity contestants even before Chrishell Stause publicly announced she was leaving.
The show has found success lately by featuring real estate agents with connections to celebrities, like Bre Tiesi, who shares children with Nick Cannon, and Sandra Vergara, Sofia Vergara’s sister.
Vanessa Villela, a Mexican-American actress, joined the show for seasons four and five. Before Selling Sunset, Christine Stause was already well-known as a soap opera actress, having appeared on All My Children and Days of Our Lives.
‘They’re looking high and low for a big celebrity to join next season,’ an insider told Daily Mail.

TV show producers aren’t concerned with whether contestants have any background in real estate. If someone is famous enough, they’ll cast them on the show even without any experience in the field.
All they need to do is get their real estate license during the show and demonstrate their ability to show properties to potential buyers.
We’ve reached out to several Hollywood managers to ask if any of their biggest stars would be interested in appearing on the show, but so far, no major celebrities have agreed.
According to a source, ‘Selling Sunset’ has become overly dramatic and focused on conflict between its cast members, meaning it’s not attracting major celebrities who want to join the show.
I’ve noticed a real trend in Hollywood lately: producers are increasingly willing to cast the children or other relatives of famous actors and actresses. We saw it happen with Sandra Vergara, and I expect it will continue – it’s a way to get built-in recognition and a bit of a buzz around a project.
Chrishell Stause, a cast member on Netflix’s Selling Sunset since its debut in 2019, recently announced she’s leaving the show. In an interview with Bustle, she explained that the stress of filming had negatively impacted her mental health.
She explained that she’s reached a point where she doesn’t rely on the show for income. Fortunately, she has other jobs, and continuing with the show is now detrimental to her well-being.

I’m grateful for everything the show has given me, and I’m trying to stay positive even though I didn’t leave on my own terms.
Stause explained that she chose to leave the show and wasn’t forced out. She even said the show’s creator, Adam DiVello, was desperately trying to convince her to stay, calling and texting her constantly – ‘100 times a day,’ according to her.
I’ve gone back and forth on this decision for a while now. To be honest, considering where I started from, it’s difficult to refuse such an opportunity,” she said.
Apparently, the drama on Selling Sunset was even worse off-camera than it appeared on TV.
Chrishell Stause has said she found it difficult this season with how the show’s editors presented the drama and disagreements.
She understands the desire for a visually impressive performance, as she explained to Bustle. She added that if the performers involved weren’t controversial, she’d likely agree with the decision.

One of her major conflicts this season involved Emma Hernan and her boyfriend, Blake Davis, who Chrishell Stause has made it clear she doesn’t approve of.
‘He compared being nonbinary to having a mental illness,’ Stause alleges.
Chrishell Stause’s partner, musician G-Flip, uses they/them pronouns. Stause has stated she did not use offensive language towards them.
She explained that he frequently shares content critical of transgender people and believes it’s excessive to avoid using a racial slur in music.
‘He posted something the other day, with a gun in view, saying he wants to “sue my d**k off.’”
Hernan disputed some of these claims on the Season 9 reunion.
Stause also says the editing left her looking like the ‘overbearing friend’.
She complained that a lot of evidence supporting her viewpoint was left out entirely.
