Spring Breakers, the 2012 cult crime drama starring Selena Gomez, is getting an unexpected sequel.
The Huffington Post described it as a fusion between Scarface and Britney Spears. In this movie, Selena Gomez, along with Vanessa Hudgens from Disney Channel, and Ashley Benson from Pretty Little Liars, played college girls who got involved in a dangerous world filled with sex, drugs, and armed robberies.
Initially, the film gained popularity due to its vivid special effects and surprising content under the production of studio A24. More than a decade has passed, and now, the same producers are working on a sequel.
Instead of Harmony Korine, who originally directed it, Matthew Bright is set to direct the film titled “Spring Breakers: Salvation Mountain.” This information comes from Variety’s report.
In a fresh twist, the upcoming movie introduces a group of rule-breaking young women embarking on an unruly spring break adventure. Actresses Bella Thorne and Ariel Martin, both previously from the Disney Channel, take charge of the star-studded ensemble.

They will also be accompanied by Grace Van Dien, who is known for her role in “Stranger Things,” as well as True Whitaker (the daughter of Forest Whitaker), who has appeared in “Godfather of Harlem.
Producers Chris Hanley and Jordan Gertner expressed their enthusiasm about collaborating with Christian and Capture on the project “Spring Breakers: Salvation Mountain”. They are also eager to delve deeper into daring, innovative narratives based on that vivid, dreamlike portrayal of youth.

“The desire for Spring Break to go on forever is something we’ve never let go of,” they added.
Efforts to produce a follow-up have hit roadblocks throughout the years. Originally, it was proposed to make a movie depicting youthful hedonists facing off against fundamentalist fanatics, but that idea never came to fruition. Additionally, a subsequent attempt to develop a digital series also fell through.
You can purchase or rent the movie “Spring Breakers” from several digital platforms in both the United Kingdom and the United States, such as Amazon’s Prime Video.
The inaugural print edition of “Digital Spy” is available now! Grab a copy of the “British Comedy Legends” magazine from your local newsstands or online for only £3.99.
