As a devoted admirer, I want to clarify that I’ve personally heard, and it’s important to note, that Mandy Teefey, Selena Gomez’s mother, has strongly refuted allegations suggesting she engaged in the use of Ritalin within her mental health startup’s office. The claims are false, as far as my understanding goes.
In 2021, Mandy Teefey, age 49, who is Gomez’s mother (as she welcomed her when she was 16 along with ex-husband Ricardo Joel Gomez), partnered with billionaire singer and entrepreneur Daniella Pierson to establish Wondermind.
The company, initially driven by the personal battles with mental health faced by its founders, encountered a storm of controversy in May 2025. This was due to revelations that the company was grappling with a severe financial predicament and had to reduce its workforce by a staggering 60%.
In an article published by The Cut, unnamed employees accused Wondermind CEO Teefey of unusual actions such as claiming to see a burglary that didn’t occur, staying at the office for extended periods, and receiving intravenous injections of liquid Benadryl on multiple occasions, which she reportedly described as vitamin infusions.
As a devoted admirer, I’ve heard whispers within our circle that refer to Teefey’s office as a sanctuary, much like one might associate with a private retreat. Some colleagues have shared stories, claiming they witnessed an incident in which she is said to have utilized a common ADHD medication, Ritalin, in her office, allegedly by snorting it. However, these are mere rumors and I personally have no direct knowledge or evidence to substantiate such claims.
Teefey clearly stated to the media outlet that she never used Ritalin by snorting it in her office. Moreover, she emphasized in a statement that the foundation she established, Wondermind, is aimed at assisting individuals struggling with mental health issues. It’s regrettable that some dissatisfied employees harboring grudges might disseminate false information about her and manipulate the truth.

Back in her twenties, Teefey was incorrectly diagnosed with Bipolar II Disorder. However, it wasn’t until 2017 that she discovered she actually had ADHD, a condition marked by ongoing problems with attention span, restlessness, and impulsiveness.
In the bustling September of 2023, an unusual incident unfolded in my professional life. I found myself sending a somewhat disorganized and typo-ridden message to a few team members, expressing a concern that felt quite startling to me at the time. The cause for alarm? A potential intruder spotted on our Los Angeles office’s security footage.
The initial statement seemed to imply: ‘Today, someone is drilling, and they whispered for me to sleep through the phone call. I’ve contacted the police, but I’m frightened.’
Later on, Teefey is said to have responded: ‘I’m utterly terrified. I replied to him, stating that I won’t leave. And he mentioned that he wouldn’t either.’
A worker reportedly accessed the office’s Ring camera from a distance and didn’t detect any sounds, as claimed by Teefey, who suggested she could pick up the sound of the intruder moving around underneath.
An adjacent colleague, who resided close by, arrived at the office to discover a Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) cruiser parked outside. Upon calling Teefey from his vehicle, this employee expressed gratitude for his arrival and suggested he could return home.
In my professional opinion as a lifestyle guide, I must clarify that, upon investigation, no evidence of unauthorized entry or trespassing was found within the premises in question. The authorities did not make any arrests related to this incident.

Teefey refuted allegations suggesting she imagined the presence of an intruder. Instead, she explained that the neighborhood where her office is located is quite questionable, and there was a large population of homeless individuals who frequently entered and exited their building.
One of the four remaining employees at Wondermind, Jonathan Glucksman, shared a video with The Cut that he claims supports Teefey’s story about the supposed intruder.
Her representative added the intruder could be heard on tape.
The staff reported that Teefey often spent long periods at work, even napping in the office. Additionally, it was observed that she might go several days without taking a bath and sometimes wore the same clothes for an extended period.
Instead, they mentioned that Teefey found solace in the office and chose to remain there, instead of making the 20-mile trip back to her home in Woodland Hills.
On occasion, Teefey shared with The Cut that she would stay in the suite when handling everything independently, as medical advice suggested avoiding driving at night due to her epileptic episodes.
Her agent added that this showed she was ‘working hard.’
Workers claimed that during working hours, she was often found inside her glass-enclosed office, engrossed in episodes of Schitt’s Creek for extended periods, surrounded by food delivery containers and merchandise from high-end retailers.
It has been reported that she frequently ordered food delivery from McDonald’s and Krispy Kreme multiple times per day, with some employees suggesting that the delivery boxes would pile up and attract flies.
The assertion was made that her collections of high-end items (apparently amounting to around $40,000 worth from Neiman Marcus) occupied almost an entire space.
Teefey asserted that no leftover food debris, flies, or delivery containers were present, and he explained that watching television was merely because he required something playing in the background.
She said: ‘It’s part of my ADHD and helps me focus.’
The staff reported that a group of nurses rotated in frequently to give Teefey intravenous vitamin drops. They also mentioned overhearing Teefey and one nurse discussing that she was allegedly being given liquid Benadryl, which is usually used for treating allergies.
According to reports, it’s alleged that Teefey informed her previous employees that she required the injections due to managing allergies stemming from a severe case of COVID-19 and double pneumonia experienced towards the end of 2021.
Employees claimed after the injections Teefey ‘spoke slowly and seemed drowsy.’

As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to clarify a misconception that may have arisen. Contrary to some claims, my younger daughter did not frequently visit the office for sleepovers. In fact, it transpired that she joined us at the workplace on one single occasion.
Teefey would not go into the specifics of what medication she took.
In open and straightforward terms, it was Emma Wright, Chief of Staff at Wondermind, along with another team member, who publicly voiced their support for Teefey.
A previous employee asserted with absolute conviction that Gomez was fully aware of his mother’s health problems, stating, “There is no room for doubt in my mind – Selena herself acknowledged that her mother wasn’t capable of managing the company effectively.
The Daily Mail reached out to Mandy Teefey and Selena Gomez’s representatives for a response, but no reply has been received as of now.

In simpler terms, the report from a financial publication stated that during difficult periods when workers hadn’t been paid since late March, Teefey personally secured loans using her home as collateral to ensure the continuation of funding for the startup.
According to the report, Teefey managed to settle some of the debt by using the funds from the home loan.
According to a source, contrary to previous reports, Teefey hadn’t borrowed funds for payroll; instead, after finding out about the financial difficulties of the company, Gomez reportedly infused additional capital immediately.
We attempted to get additional comments from Teefey, Wondermind, and representatives of Gomez regarding the Forbes article that was previously published.
Gomez, the leader of the thriving Rare Beauty cosmetics company, does not participate in the regular, hands-on management of Wondermind.
According to the source, Gomez has been pouring millions of dollars into the company throughout the years, not only as a means of backing her mother but also because they both share a deep-rooted interest in mental health.
Nevertheless, according to Forbes, it’s been estimated that Wondermind might owe freelancers and suppliers a significant amount, potentially reaching into the tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars.
On their webpage, the company emphasizes the importance of daily practices for maintaining mental wellness and cognitive abilities, which they refer to as ‘Our Pledge to Mental Agility’.
The company stated, “Achieving mental fitness involves focusing on your mental well-being, in a way that feels personal to you.” However, it requires more than just motivational phrases to truly alter your perspective.

But showing up for your mental health shouldn’t be expensive, inaccessible, or time consuming.
‘In addition to seeing a therapist, setting aside time each day for your mental well-being can be beneficial. Our goal is to provide practical strategies that make prioritizing your mental health an achievable part of daily life.’
Subsequently, Wondermind explained that it offers a platform for practice, essential tools, and venues for crucial discussions.
