Selena Gomez discusses “medical issues” that prevent her from carrying children
As a fan who has followed Selena Gomez’s journey since her Disney days, it’s heartbreaking to hear about her struggles with motherhood due to her health issues. However, her strength and resilience continue to inspire me. She’s shown us that life doesn’t always go as planned, but we can still find ways to make our dreams come true.
Selena Gomez has discussed “medical issues” that prevent her from carrying children.
In a recent chat, the performer who is also known for her role in “Only Murders in the Building,” candidly discussed her experiences with motherhood, revealing that certain complications could potentially endanger both her and the infant.
She shared with Vanity Fair, “This is something I’ve never spoken about before, but due to various health complications, I am unable to bear children of my own. These medical issues pose a risk not only to my life but also to the baby’s. It was something I had to mourn for a period.
Gomez continued to ponder, “It didn’t turn out as I had imagined. I assumed it would follow the path others take. However, I find myself in a far superior position regarding that matter.
Additionally, she highly commended the “benefit” of having “generous individuals open to surrogacy or adoption”, stating that they present “tremendous opportunities” in her situation.
She went on to express her deep gratitude for alternatives for those eagerly wanting to become mothers. “I’m among those people,” she said, filled with anticipation for the adventure ahead. “Though it may take a unique form, I don’t mind. What matters is that it will be my journey, my baby.
Gomez revealed in 2015 she had lupus and underwent a kidney transplant two years later.
2022 saw the debut of the documentary titled “My Mind & Me“, where she shared her journey battling mental health issues following diagnoses of depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder.
I’m absolutely thrilled to be immersed in the fourth season of “Only Murders in the Building,” where I, alongside Steve Martin as Charles and Martin Short as Oliver, continue our intriguing crime-solving journey as hosts of a podcast.
The star recently revealed that she proposed her character be a killer on the show, recalling to Variety: “I did pitch that. I don’t think it’s going to work out, but who knows? You never know.”
