Sources say Sebastian Stan is likely to join the cast of The Batman – Part 2 as a key villain. This sequel is a major project for director Matt Reeves and DC Studios’ new Elseworlds series of films, and it’s the first of at least three Elseworlds movies planned for theatrical release. Robert Pattinson will reprise his role as Bruce Wayne, and he’ll be joined by a strong supporting cast in this exciting story.

Reports suggest Sebastian Stan is joining the cast of Matt Reeves’ The Batman – Part 2. Deadline says he’s close to finalizing a deal, but details about his character or when the agreement will be official haven’t been released.

Soon after the report came out, industry insider Jeff Snider confirmed the news, saying he’d also heard about the actor being cast as Two-Face. He shared on X that Keanu Reeves seems to have found his version of Harvey Dent, the character famously known as Two-Face. If true, this would be the first time Two-Face has appeared in a live-action movie since Aaron Eckhart played the role in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight back in 2008.

This character has appeared in two other TV shows this century. Nicholas D’Agosto, known for his role in Masters of Sex, played the villain in 19 episodes of Gotham. More recently, Misha Collins, a familiar face from Supernatural, took on the role in the 2023 series Gotham Knights, though that show didn’t last long.

Stan joins a growing list of Marvel actors moving to DC, following Scarlett Johansson’s recent casting in The Batman 2. Having appeared in ten live-action Marvel films, including the upcoming Thunderbolts in 2025, Stan is also scheduled to return as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier for an eleventh time in Avengers: Doomsday in 2026.

The upcoming film, The Batman – Part 2, will be the first movie set in an alternate universe developed by the new leadership at DC Studios – James Gunn and Peter Safran. It’s the second installment in director Matt Reeves’ Batman saga, and stars Robert Pattinson, Andy Serkis, Colin Farrell, Barry Keoghan, and Jeffrey Wright. While the plot is still under wraps, the story is anticipated to continue directly after the events of the first film, following the devastating floods that left Gotham City in ruins. The Batman – Part 2 is currently scheduled for release on October 1, 2027.
